For those of you who say these kicks would not work in a fight, you are right. But these kicks are not for self defence, these combos you see are martial arts tricking, a form of self expression. Like how a dancer expresses them self through dance moves or a break dancer expresses them self through breaking, martial arts tricking is like that comboing kicks, flips and twists etc together to have fun and exercise.

where the sports overlap is with acrobatic tumbling moves which is why they are typically confused for each other. these tumbling moves are used for different purposes in either sport. tricking involves more kicking and the moves are used to create aesthetic and stylish combos by stringing together kicks, flips and twists. where as in freerunning one usually does flips off of something such a ledge and tumbles afterwards. hope that helped :)

Okay, to all three people who asked: Reason 1: This guy wears his black belt around in public. This won't hinder him in fights so much as make him look stupid. If you wear your karate belt and/or uniform in public, people will think "Oh, this guy's tough, let's take him on" and the guy will get into a lot of fights. Reason 2: The acrobatics are for show. if he used them to kick someone in a fight, the person could easily dodge them, and if they did hit, he would knock himself off balance.

I hope you guys know that tricking was not meant for "practical" uses such as fighting. It's a form of expression - that's like saying painting or dancing is "useless" because you cannot apply it in a street fight. Tricking refers to the more "acrobatic" forms in the video by the way.
