+acasero11 How do you explain that it took him three years to get from 290 lbs bench to 350 lbs? For your information steroids don't have nearly the same effect on your lower body as they have for upper body. Before 1940 deadlift world record was already 700 lbs whereas bench press world record was 365 lbs.

james smalling he's been squatting all his life ass to grass, why would he change things up if that feels more natural for him, that's called perfect technique for longevity. And yes I know this is powerlifting and not "weightlifting" but he's doing great progress. I also pray ass to grass, competition, no competition. Shame on that bar, seems like johnny had to change his grip in the competition.

george john legend because he literally stated several times that its a problem, because it makes him loose pounds on the platform. And it isnt atg, but its still too low

george john legend Just cause he squats deeper than he has to doesn't make it ass-to-grass. He's far away from that.

Why do power bars not have knurling throughout the entire bar? Knurling the entire length of the bar would allow the bar to grip the back better in the squat, and allow the lifter to place their hands wherever they want in the deadlift.
@ccax749 жыл бұрын
***** "Why do power bars not have knurling throughout the entire bar?" I guess to prevent Olympic lifters from slitting their throats.
@rhoads00989 жыл бұрын
ccax74 Powerbars are used in powerlifting, olympic weightlifting bars are used iin weightlifting. The two sports use completely different bars, so why not make the powerbar better suited for powerlifting with the full knurl.
@ccax749 жыл бұрын
***** "The two sports use SLIGHTLY different bars".
@rhoads00989 жыл бұрын
ccax74 I know they're slightly different. This is the whole point of my discussion.. to change the bars entirely. There is no reason for the two sports to be using bars that are so similar. An olympic bar should be thinner, have slight whip to it, probably bearings, and have a middle that is smooth with a center knurl. A power bar should be slightly thicker, be stiff, have bushings, have knurling throughout the entire bar, and have aggressive knurl.

khorshed alam the problem for Candito is that he squats too low. I think he switched to flat shoes in an attempt to try and reach parallel easier without going below it, but as you can tell from the vid he is still having issues with that.

I hate that you have to wait to step out, and wait to go down, and wait to bend over, and wait to get a drink of water, and wait go to the bathroom, and wait to call your mom after the event, until a judge says you can. I mean, if they squat to depth then they squat, it shouldn't matter if some guy says when you can start the descent. Squat's a squat, bench is a bench, dead lift is a dead lift. The fact that a lift can be red-lighted because of you go too soon is nonsense. I'm sure some powerlifting nerd will come in and rant about why they do that, but I really don't care. Haha Also, good job Jonnie.
@OfArgento9 жыл бұрын
That Dude I'm not a powerlifting nerd, but I'm pretty sure they do it like that to ensure that the judges are 100% focused on the lift. Otherwise there might be a higher chance that they were looking away or something and only caught half of it.
