My first kayak ever was a brand new old town predator 13 and I put a 30 thrust minn kota on it. And it was really nice. It moved me 4.5mph. Then I sold that set up. And bought a brand new 2016 hobie outback and put another 30 thrust on it. It moves 4-5mph. But when I get to where i'm going. I turn the motor off and use my peddles to move around super quiet. That's my current rig. I take it off shore and inshore saltwater fishing and fresh water bass fishing. I feel very safe in my outback and I've been in some rough water with it. I trust my hobie outback. It's a very safe kayak. Hi dan from headwaters I watch alot of you all's video's 🙂

The motor mount feature is a plus on this boat. Other yak makers should learn from this and do similar designs. The ideal boat would be a co-joined trimaran with seaworthy narrow hulls, foam filled, motor mountable, truck bed carry design. but for now 10' is a little small to my taste.

I am also very interested in this boat. But , I don't think I would ever take it out without my trolling or small outboard. That's what makes it special. My other kayaks would definitely have an edge over the base model. As far as the tiller handle being right behind the seat, I have a Bass Hunter where the seat is in the center. It is not as handy as sitting off center like other boats but it is not that bad. Although my seat swivels. Ideally I think you would want the motor fixed and use rudder control.

@@AliexFolgueira What Everybody needs is a seat for kayak "Side fishing" the only I know is the Bass Pro at 99U$D but needs some adaptation and improvement. Once you seat there, you don't want to come back to the past. Every Kayak builder must consider a rotating "kayak fishing seat"...as a sale option. None has noticed so far, all the seats are meant to paddle and NONE made for fishing!!

Interestingly the trolling motor outboard motor at least couple hundred if not close to a Grand depending on what you get which puts the price tag the right on up there. the ''boat'' needs beachmaster wheels which are retractable wheels that are screwed into the stern. What it also needs is some form of jackplate to go into very shallow waters. The throttle control should be with wires like the steering because you can place a lot of equipment in the aft section ( behind the seat). A good example you won't be able to place a cooler there.

Interesting for sure. Base price seems okay but that will just have to depend on how much those accessories are going to go for. With the price on flipper drives dropping now that they are out of copyright Im not sure this boat can compete. It is much easier to put a trolling motor on the back but wont have a peddle drive. Unless they can figure out a way to put one in that pod hole. That pod insert will have to be ata decent price or this whole boat will be pointless. If its as much as the boat then there are better more versatile option for a small boat. They also need a better way of controlling it from the seat or without that standing bar. That thing will make fishing while sitting very difficult.

They really put a lot of thought into this product but maybe they should have reduced the options. Why have an electric motor pod when you can just place any trolling motor on the back. I wonder how this would do in rougher water? Like when you get caught in the middle of the lake when the wind comes up and the waves get a little more robust? I think I would be in if it was 4 feet wide and 12 foot long. But this is such a great alternative to a Hobie Pro Angler .

Good point! Sooo many videos I can make wkth this boat, led lights and so on! It has three drain scuppers front, behind the seat and the outboard one, the one behind the seat is like a mega scupper hole

I was a little concerned when I got the Hobie Compass because it has less scuppers than the others but it is the driest ride ever. Kayak design is coming along way and drainage problems are being solved with advanced hull design not just adding more holes in the boat!

Are the two scuppers sufficient? It looks like the idea is to self bail when on plane. But if you do not use an outboard, it would not plane. But I guess in reality, I doubt anyone would but this unless they intend to put an outboard on it. At under 1k I think they have a winner for sure. I just wish there were some more scupper holes.

It's a pretty neat little boat. But if you was to buy the boat. and rig it like the one here on this video. It would probably cost $3000-$3500 for that price you could just buy the greatest kayak ever. the new hobie outback kayak and add a little lite weight gas motor to it. You wouldn't need a electric motor or battery. Because you would use the peddles after you cut off the outboard. And I bet it would be safer off shore or where ever you wanted to fish. 🙂

@@AliexFolgueira Looks like 126 lbs. No battery EFI. For the F25 hp. And seeing $3500-$4000. Ouch There's also a Yamaha F15hp 111 lbs I'm sure not much cheaper lol probably 3000-3500 guessing there. Double ouch. Lightest in its class they say. I'll pass on that idea. Lol
