I first heard him on the radio back when DJ's were human. I heard the song "Lie to Me" and called the station to ask "who was that". That's how I met Jonny Lang :-)

Too funny. I first heard him driving to work " Long time coming " on the radio, did what you did called the radio station to ask who sings long time coming. All these years later, CD's, Vinyl of his in my place ! Love him up !!!

I wish people would stop saying Jonny is underrated, why would anyone say that , he's been around since he was 13 yrs old ,draws the crowd's everywhere he goes ! All over the world even, Any one that loves the blues knows who he is that's why they fill up the venues he plays , who are these under raters people are referring to ? Stop saying that, every blues head in the world knows Jonny Lang and that signature voice of his ! And I hear or read so many people are comparing him to other's and I wonder why ? Because he's not trying to sound like someone else or be someone else , He's Jonny with his own music his own style his own brand ! Appreciate him for who he is , There's nothing to compare not a thing !

Well live with it. He is underrated. Cuz you got mediocre to pretty good guys like John Mayer has 10x the fame he does, yet he is such a better performer and overall raw musician with more natural talent. I am sure he doesn't care about having more fame, but being someone who openly and unapologetically says he's underrated often, that's probably what everyone means. And I stick to what I and everyone else is saying. He is underrated as hell. One of the best blues musicians of the modern era.

The very best of the best don’t nor never did need more than a few notes per measure in order to mesmerize you and Johnny was one of those few. It’s called soul and there just aren’t that many in modern music that possess even half an ounce of it when compared to him.

That's right! He recorded Lie To Me when he was FOURTEEN. What a talent.. amazing voice and his guitar playing. MAN!!! Its hard to even believe he was that young. He was maybe 16 when they made the video, but the album was cut about TWO YEARS already. He does NOT sing or play that guitar like a 14 year old kid. He is FANTASTIC! And to beat that, he's a really great person! Take notes kids. 😉

I just don't understand if white people hate black men so bad why would they want to try to sound like one why would they want a copy our music we don't copy their music everybody copies our blues that comes from pain and they're making money off of our pain that's not fair that's not right and the whole damn thing is not good blues come from pain these people are using our blood and our music and our feelings for their profit how bad can that possibly be we don't play violins and whatever they have they play they're trying to feel our music but they don't feel the bloo

@Utubesup7890 2 жыл бұрын
@@lutherdrayton6535 I understand what you’re saying but if SRV and others like Jonny Lang didn’t bring Buddy Guy and others up on stage sadly, they wouldn’t get the money and recognition that was meant for them. So someone had to do it. Kenny Wayne shepherd has a dvd where he goes down south to give the older blues players recognition too. If the younger guys don’t do it do you want it to die out? Because it’s not that popular. Only with us guitarists. I respect all of them. And Clapton brings out Robert cray. The late BB King and others at his crossroads festival. Hubert Sumlin etc. I think he passed too. They ate of course responsible for so many Rick bands like The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin. Does everyone know? No. Only if you do your homework. And I have. I have all the stuff from Larry Mitchell to the late Hiram bullock to Prince. Name it. I’m aware. PS please don’t generalize that all white Jen hate all black men. That’s not true. Generalizing is easy to do. Trying not to do that is much harder. Don’t lump us altogether please. There’s bad and good in all.

@@Utubesup7890 Thanks to the Lord my "lily white" (native Detroit) parents had Jazz/R&B/Motown/Blues coursing through their veins when I came about. Our suburb was completly white back in the late fifties to the early seventies. The Mom and Pop's had a popular music store that carried a good range of instruments, specializing in horns. I was oblivious to the newfound wise guys in the neiborhood knocking me as I came up. My Pop's also was a club speakers' nut. THAT didn't go well in our cul-de-sac, lol. As I hit my teens, our home became THE place to come over to listen to really good garage bands from all over the area. It was Heaven!

Artists like Stevie Ray Vaughn and Johnny Lang are weaned on Southern Black Culture. These 2 artists are the exception to the rule (they give proper attribution/respect). And it's reflected in the authentic heart and soul of their music. Today with social media and formal music training, the imitation lag has grown shorter. Careers are still made playing race music.In a world where the progenitors struggle & protest to survive. And have to remind us: "Ain't I A Woman", "I Am A Man", and "Black Lives Matter. They fought Americas wars, (for North and the South), Civil Rights and today's Social Justice Inclusion for All Movement... Yet the spoils of war are usurped by generations of successive waves of immigrants... Amorphic definitions of "minority" and "people of color" that then pass for "white" within one generation. Spiritual, "Mountain Music", Gospel, Blues, Stride, Ragtime, Jazz, Boogaloo, Boogie Woogie, Salsa, Plena, Reggae, Reggaetón, Merengue, Samba, Bass Nova, Hip hop, Rap, Rock etc. What if Americans, Latinos, and Europeans appreciated the descendants of your slaves, as much as you do their Culture.

im hearing the great scorching guitar work of..... Peter Green ...from those early years of Fleetwood Mac...happenin ...here....and then....here comes . .THE MASTER OF THE TELECASTER....ALBERT COLLINS....is definetly influencing my blues persuasions..and lets not forget...the greatest of them all....little SHUGGIE OTIS...... Shuggie Otis......for sure!!.....i only hope that the young & upcoming blues guitar players...of the future... ....always appreciate the great amount ...of DUES ..that your blues forefathers...paid....broke...and hungry....and livin from gig ..to gig........and endless hours .in the juke joints of the past...they did it all for you!!...........................................................

I saw him open for Aerosmith and I was very lucky to have had the chance. He just throws his heart on the stage and sings through his guitar. It was so intense that I caught myself crying more than once.
