JJ.Abrams turned.Star Trek into Star Trash. Gene Roddenberry would have fired him on the spot. The Kelvins were not known until the episode " by any other name". They were from Andromeda originally. So why.did.JJ Abrams.have a ship named after them?.

And he is about to put the death nail in Star Wars. although I agree with jason c after looking it up, Abrams had nothing to do with that piece of crap reboot of BSG and how fitting this video shows how far the other way the pendulum has swung. I love how JJ gets blamed for it all, despite it being Alex Kurtzman and CBS who've slammed the franchise into the ground from orbit. JJ directed ONE Trek film, then went on to ruin the new Star Wars trilogy (not that it needed it-- the fans have ruined that franchise enough already before these new shitty films were spawned!). Kurtzman has gone out of his way to shit all over Trek ever since.

Historical point. Roddenberry always wanted Nimoy for Spock. The studio wanted Landau, because he was better established, he'd worked with Hitchcock in "North By Northwest", and would've made a better selling point to a prospective network. As it was, Landau turned them down, opting for sister show Mission: Impossible, Desilu let them cast Nimoy, and the rest is history.

It is amazing to see how much has changed over time; the series was groundbreaking. A multinational crew all working together in leadership positions instead of being played as stereotypes. It was rumored that the idea of women wearing pants was so negative, they were put into mini dresses & the thought of a female in 2nd command (while being super-intelligent) was ludicrous. It’s always important to see the cultural restrictions this show faced while being made.

I think Abrams updated the show with our cultural norms. I love the Uhura & Spock being together, especially when she uses logic against him. Still hoping most of the tech comes true apart from the communicators we are way past them already.
@Acrosurge5 жыл бұрын
I'd love to experience a story in the Holodeck! Though the communicator technology is actually still beyond our reach! Without towers, dishes, and satellites, our devices of equal size to Trek communicators would have no hope of projecting a signal to high orbit (around 36,000 km), let alone to the moon (384,400 km). Those distances are standard for Star Trek communicators alone, without boosters. And with small transmitters, Voyager communicators could boost their range to light years!
