YOOO! at 0:08 where rodney half cab heel darkslides, hes doing that on a bnech in my home skatepark. I grew up in a town of lik 8k people in Wyoming of all places. Pros NEVER come anywhere near Jackson because its a town that gets almost 600 inches of snow a year on average, and its not exactly known for skating, but skiing. But i grew up worshipping Rodney and he's the only reason I stuck with skateboarding. Ive been sating for 13 years now, and I always attribute my long love for skating to Rodney. And that clip never ceases to blow my mind that he was skating my home park 15ish years ago. super crazy that its probably the only clip ever of a pro skating our park. MADE MY DAY to see that in the intro!!!! Love you jonny! keep it up! you inspire me every day!!!!

@DunkelBrauer4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, just do it. No need to perform hard. You can take it easy, even pushing and carving can be so much fun. I restarted after 30 years at 44. There are so much simple things you can do and its a lot of fun - no need to "nollie tre double flip to casper to double nose hook impossible over a euro gap". You can do like 100 fun things even just with pushing and kickturning. And the rest will follow anyway.

@Jonny Giger After all the effort you put into recreating these tricks, do you think Rodney had to do the same thing when he recorded them? It seems so casual when he does them...
@tarekmoneimsaid4 жыл бұрын
I think a few times, perhaps (no one lands 100% of their tricks all the time). But the thing about Rodney is that he was a freestyle skater since he was 8, so he (still, btw) has this perfect balance. Primo, Caspers, etc are just basic stuff for him, like ollies. It's definitively easier for him, he can pull off these tricks more consistently.
@joshhiroti4 жыл бұрын
Such a cool board graphic
@koebwil4 жыл бұрын
I do some freestyle and I think you're making the toe side rail flip way harder than it needs to be. If you just push down on the nose or the tail then the radius of the board makes the flip just happen, it comes up to your foot beautifully like the trick wants you to land it.

Can we just find a way to let Jonny and Rodney have an ultimate skate sesh already?
@calum87544 жыл бұрын
Hey Jonny, I feel like a mad man saying this but May I give you some advice for that “rail flip”? If you treat it the exact same way you would a Primo Flip (as in putting some force down on the kicker as apposed to pushing it forwards) due to the shape of the board it will do a heelflip motion for you much smoother. This as apposed to when you have the trucks facing forwards, it tends to do the Varial motion. I doubt you’ll see this comment, but if you do please give it a go ☺️
