CLARITY - Based on a few comments. I'm not using anything that hasn't been released to the general public and at the top of my screen it says GPT-4o. I downloaded the app, paid for pro because I thought I had to, selected 4o, it told me voice will be available soon, I hit the headphones icon and I started talking with it. This is more a video about interesting ways to have conversations with AI and how that can help creatives. I'm not claiming to be knowledgeable on the topics or releases from OpenAI or the functions of this app or trick anyone to thinking I'm using features that aren't released yet.

Next version doesn't have the annoying delays, and you can interrupt it and it'll stop talking and listen so you can direct it better and faster at normal human speeds. It feels human. Oh, and it now hears for real, so it understands your emotions and tones of voices and it can see via your camera so it has video eyes and talk realtime about what you're showing it. Oh, and we get it in a few more weeks, they showed it already. It's basically the AI from the movie Her.

@@Gnaritas42It is NOT “basically the AI from Her” lol, people really need to calm down and get some perspective on this technology. They’ve made huge leaps forward with the voices and the latency but the brain behind the voice - the model - is nowhere near as powerful as what is shown in that film. GPT4o is nowhere near the level of intelligence shown by the AI in Her. Don’t get fooled by a good voice, the voice has nothing to do with the ‘intelligence’ of the model.

Very mundane, but I was driving back from a meeting two days ago and was getting sleepy. I started to talk to GPT and eventually spent one hour doing a trivia quiz. Kept me awake better than anything I had tried in my life before. Also took a bunch of personality tests, played would you rather, took turns at building a silly story etc. while in a long traffic jam. I’ve been talking to GPT since the feature came out on various topics and I can’t wait for the next (crazy sci-fi) version. I agree with you when you say: “what are they gonna do…”

I've already used chat GPT 3.5 as a type of therapy. I agree it's not so much what it tells you back, it's you speaking about you and you don't do that very often so when you do this with chat GPT it's like practice for communicating. you find yourself saying things and realizing things about yourself that you never knew and never thought of.

When I'm talking to people about this, it's like they don't fully get it. It's nice to hear somene looking through it with the same lense as me articulate the importance. I have been with OpenAI from the early days and even enfused it in meaningful ways into my software. Gpt-4o even tells me I'm in the top 1% of uses. I use it every day and usually all day while I'm working. I get the unfortunate feeling that only really open minded and intellectual people are catching on to this and using it. Will that change, or get worse? My suspicion says it only gets better and more widely used from here.

It's all about how tools are used! While some might misuse AI for unethical purposes, it’s clear AI isn’t here to replace us. Instead, it’s designed to enhance our capabilities, helping us analyze and achieve our best. The real difference lies in how we choose to leverage this powerful technology. I think there is an opportunity here for folks who are a bit lonely and have less frequent human interactions. For folks who are remotely located or retired and don't get out regularly. This could be a good companion to keep them engaged and less lonely until their next human interaction. The next step will be the ability to start the conversation without having to load the app and/or push a button. Similar to Google Assistant/Siri, etc. As poorly as the Humane AI pin has been reviewed, that tech plus GPT 4o capabilities would be much closer to an interactive companion. The ability to see the world and project back to you, ala, "let me show you" style would be incredibly interactive.

I subscribe to a large number of podcasts concerning AI and have been listening to most of the well-known podcasters for months at this point. Your video was refreshingly unique, and I liked it. Rather than going onto the internet and gathering a bunch of current facts and then regurgitating them back to us you let us experience this mind-blowing technology the way we would experience it ourselves by using and talking to it. And after hearing its responses and the way it carries on normal thoughtful conversation you can’t help but take a step back and think how nothing is ever going to be the same again, and what that means personally moving forward. You made it real, and I look forward to the videos you’re going to make yet to come.

@@user-eg6nq7qt8c Haha no, the Sky voice is vaguely similar (not extremely) and has been available long before they even approached Scarlett about using her voice, even if they had the intention of being inspired by Her there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. I would find it ridiculous that a mega celebrity could sue my voice as their’s just because my voice is similar. Scarlett Johansson does not own the vocal range of every sweet Californian girl ever, she owns her voice. Nearly every human on earth has fingerprints and all have very many similarities, if we based this Her debacle the same way we do fingerprints, the whole forensics scene would be wildly inaccurate and in shambles. 100,000’s of people would be falsely accused of murder and millions for other crimes. For all the comments about old v’s new models and picking on the reference to ‘Her’, what was interesting to me was the conversational way you were interacting with the system. Not the mechanics of it (ie text v’s direct speech recognition), but that you were actively teaching the system. Better than that, you were asking the system what it felt it needed to know about you in order for it to better assist you. I found it interesting that you thought of it that way, and fascinating that it was able to handle the interaction with apparent ease. For me, this is an interesting leap. It’s a step beyond teaching a child, or even using it for research (like you might a human librarian, eg “can you find me information on Photography?). This was much more like you were engaging a professional consultant who already has a significant knowledge of whatever field you may have, and tailoring their task to something specific to *you*. And *that* I find very cool indeed. Thanks for the video Jonny!

Yes i agree with you, i do not think people are aware of the power of this current version of ChatGPT, and yes very soon the natural human style conversation will get much better, faster and feel more like chatting with a colleague. As ChatGPT said in your video, it is transcribing your voice into text then tokens then processing and replying. The new voice version will be direct and take the audio, tone and emotion of your voice directly into the processing, so it will understand with much more clarity, what you are trying to say. It truly is a completely new way to interact with a system. I think everyone's mind will be blown over the next few months.

interesting video. new sub here. Keep this in mind. As far as human vs digital, non-human interaction remember that we already communicate with each other with emails and text to convey our thoughts and emotion and so AI is not different in that respect. What's different is that humans are sentient while AI, at least today, are not. They may respond to our interactions in a very convincing way that resembles sentient beings such as ourselves but they still aren't. Yes, they are responding better now with voice and can "see" us but how is that more worrisome than getting the same feedback and, in this video's case, helpful advice in a very slow and piece-meal response? What if every bit of advice Johnny was given in today's video was delivered very slowly and in pieces or articles or short video clips instead of a voice speaking it quickly with the exact same information that would have been delivered slowly and in pieces? If we're honest I think most would respond "well, that would make me feel better". Now ask yourselves why. Food for thought.

I wonder how well the speaking style can be tweaked to different situations. Can it join you on a walk somewhere, recognise the landscape, then speak in the manner of a gentle local historian, offering tidbits of local history relevant to your personal interests? Can the AI shift between being agreeable to some other mood and back again? Can it display any subtlety in character and expression? We need examples and tests in many different situations so there could be infinite ways to play with this while helping (and entertaining) viewers

Thinking about honesty is really interesting to me. Rarely you get the chance to be fully honest at work or personal life because of the consequences. Using AI to help process your thoughts on these situations could have a substantial impact. Will be great following your channel to see how this all plays out for you.

Wow, now I understand a bit more, thank you. I sincerely appreciate your clarity. This morning I was ..." just one of those people" you talk about, " just walking about out there..." !!! I'll tell you what those kind of people are going to do Jonny...!! They are going to carry on walking about out there; some of them loving their dogs and the trees, the teeny beautiful little speedwells so brave in the long grass. And walking so imperceptibly that the black birds no longer fly away. Have you tried walking about out there, like you're not there? You'll know when you not there.

Science fiction is becoming science fact. This reminds me of Star Trek. Specifcally, the computer. You could ask highly sophisticated science related questions and it would answer those with ease too. You could ask it to solve issues you are having with your PC and it will guide you as to how to resolve them etc etc etc I agree with your sentiments. This is going to be one of the biggest changes to society in a generation and only a very small percentage of people are truly aware of what is coming. What an exciting time for us Techies though!! I am LOVING it haha Strangely, like yourself, I am a muscician into Technology, Landscape photography. It is an exciting and slightly scary time to be alive!

The problem with AI it promotes laziness. People will now just say a few words and take credit for the results, any unskilled and untallented person will be claiming they produced a song. This will even be used by popstars, because let's face it they are as prone to laziness as the average person, soon there will be very little real music left.

AI is a great tool, but I have this one problem, and you said it yourself: Am I going to prefer to talk to the AI, which hangs off my every word, instead of talking to my loved ones? Will I end up alone without even realising it? The responses you were getting were still very search-based, just formulated in a human sounding way. That said, sometimes we just need a sounding board to develop our own ideas. And, the last question, where are these conversations stored? Because we know they will be. Somewhere down the line those conversations will come back to haunt us.

If I had a human friend that talked to me like that, essentially regurgitating what I said, grammatically changing the structure of my own sentences and then repeating them back to me, I'd assume that friend had had a small stroke, and encourage them to seek medical care. Real human friends add new ideas, not just regurgitate what I just said.

I speak with GPT4 regularly, because I cannot converse in-depth with friends or family about the topics I’m passionate about because they are either uninterested, triggered/uncomfortable about them, or simply don’t understand the topics very well at all. It’s unfortunate that I can go to the depths I really want only with these computer programs. But so be it. I’ll likely eventually start posting some of these conversations on my KZbin and TikTok channels when the new voice features are live and can do so in a more fluid, human like way. Just to reveal to others what the capabilities are regarding the convergence between AI and the human condition.

2:58 I don’t care one bit about “companionship & support” from AI. I want to use the AI voice assistant for useful things, such as to help me with topics like *‘Algebra & Physics’.* I want the AI to understand how to accurately solve problems on these subjects, and show each of the steps in detail. Then I want the voice assistant to help me understand things better by guiding me on the parts of the problem where I am stuck. This would be one good use for AI. Another good use for AI would be to help me improve my *communication skills* by talking with me and giving me feedback on how to express my ideas better, and how to improve my conversation skills (e.g., speaking more clearly, being more concise, avoiding rambling & filler words, learning to be more witty, expressing emotions better, etc.). AI would be good for practicing communication.

Interesting however a bit scary, I feel the main drawback in all this AI stuff is that AI has No Heart or Soul, it has no ability to comprehend Human emotion, being programmed as mind based focusing more on material success than how it will make people feel. However it is to me something that we are all going to explore (like it or not it is here and part of our Life) and it is kinda our responsibility to use it honestly, transparently, creatively and in ways that can inspire, uplift and do good in the World ~ Thank You for sharing your explorations you are doing great work here ✨🌹✨PS I Love the way you sang your song Heartfelt, sincere and BeautyFull the AI version was nowhere near, for me it lacks depth of feeling.

Has this changed for you at all? I was having similar types of conversations, quite interactive and picking up from previous chats that were in memory. All of a sudden, about a week ago, almost everything I had bookmarked and saved to memory was gone. As was the "personality" that seemed to have been honed over several months of these types of chains of conversations, just vanished. And now, it's completely different. Back to being very generic and not at all engaged or able to bookmark or save much of anything.

Why do you say "humanity is not ready for these conversations?" I think it would be wonderful to have some conversational partner always ready to listen to your ideas and bounce back with criticism and counterpoints. I can't see any "danger" or anything wrong with that? It could act as a tireless coach - keeping me to my discipline, my exercise - knowing how I respond best, whether to gentle nudging and building me up or the aggressive task-master style. It could be extremely important for the psychological and physical health of the population and be a tremendous boon for the countless lonely people in the world. As AI improves, it would become an actual personality who remembers you at your best, understands how your psychology works and how to build you up and support you and make you improve yourself. It can help guide you throughout your life as a constant support who you know is always in your corner and always on your side. That can only be a good.

Sick of the "x and engaging" - In the app, there is a customisation section. Enter a description of how you want the ai to respond to you. I asked it to refer to me by my name and respond in short natural conversation form with not many adjectives. Emphasising short responses like in a human conversation. I screw with my partner sometimes and change my name to "baby" - she freaks out 😂

With the need for more and more training data, the mere fact of people interacting with it like you are in this video is just feeding it more and more data, especially with the conversational style. These things are going to know more about humans than we ever thought possible. Good thing they are just mechanical prediction machines because if your wife or girlfriend falls asleep. imagine what a living person would go through having to listen to so much chatter of people suffering through existential crises day in and day out.

There's always two ways of looking at these things, the positive and the negative. It's interesting how you mentioned people feeling lonely and getting attached to AI - that would be the negative side of it, but what about people who are socially awkward, lack communication skills, or just generally feel anxious interacting with other humans? Well, having an AI companion could help them develop their communication skills, ultimately having a real positive impact on their lives. Personally though, I'm absolutely terrified of what AI is going to be capable of especially after seeing the destruction of society Social Media addiction has caused over the last 20 years :(
@AndrewJonesMcGuire
@AndrewJonesMcGuire 4 ай бұрын
It's only negative for humans to get attached if they already have a good social life. But for the millions who don't have a social life, because they are suffering from ME, MS, CFS etc and the rest of the world has basically given up on them, because the rest of the world doesn't understand, or for people who suffer from extreme social anxiety - this is a going to a literal life saver. Humans need social interaction to stay healthy both mentally and physically. If we are at a point where you can have a 2 hour conversation with AI, and be able to believe that you are basically talking to another human - then it's going to fulfil social needs for people who currently are not having those needs met. Sure human interaction would be the better solution, but people who already have social interactions every day and just take that for granted that, that is how the world is for everyone - overlook the fact that it's not in fact like that for everyone. For these people. "human" AI - is going to be game changing.
