As an artist I learned to start working and not worry about my mind or anything. Just start working, then you will find your way and inspiration. It’s when time disappear. Then you get your state of creation. I did worked every day for 30 years, sometimes I was cleaning brushes, sometimes painting for hours, you need the discipline. Picasso said I keep working every day and when the inspiration comes it can catch me working! Best

There is no trace of the artist in this drawing. It is a mechanical representation of the eye. Jono is competing with a camera. Of course this is an insanely high degree of craft here, but no self expression, style, interpretation or art. It represents obsessive/compulsive behavior. This reminds me of the days when photography was not as sophisticated and artists were employed as medical draftsmen to aid surgeons and medical students. Not the kind of art I would want hanging in my house.

The roughness comes not from the sponge but from the water. When the fibers absorb water they bend and shift, often perpendicular to the surface. We get the same thing in woodworking. Often carpenters will wet down the surface to get loose fibers to stand up so that when it dries the fibers can easily be sanded off.
