I was a tattoo artist for 10 years but in 2012 I went back to school and got into software engineering, still doing a tattoo here and there on family or friends. I need some extra cash after a recent divorce so part time firing the machine back up, My kit is old and needles now expired so am re-upping my stock and found all sorts of terminology I hadn't heard before, plus wanted to see what guys are doing nowadays. Not as much has changed as I thought but still I learned quite a bit here. Great video man thank you!

I self taught tattooist learned from practicing on my self never really seen videos like this never been in a studio. Although on little quiz at the end was glad to know your selection of needles were very similar to my style minus the script where I would have used 03, 07 and the 09 rl mainly just because that is what worked for me over the years awesome man video was dope. I took a long break from tatto when went back to graduate software development which was career change but since graduation and find jobs are not as available as was once made out I returning to my tattooing because I was good at my tattooing and really just wanted a career change. Tho with that not working out and being left looking for work for so long now I have ultimately decided that I should have just continued my tattooing passion perhaps I should just went and done an art degree lol.

On the 1st question I was thinking 1203 liner and the 1007 so glad to see I was somewhere close 😂 just got my equipment about a month ago and it’s been a learning curve but it helps a lot to think of it like painting. My problem I’ve been having is parts of lines fading and just being superficial rather than staying in the skin. Which I believe is a result of me not stretching the skin in those areas or moving too fast and too shallow. (Btw I only tattoo myself so the tats I’m referring to are my own, wouldn’t go putting my craziness onto somebody for life, at least not at my current level.)

Different size gauges are all down to personal preference. Generally speaking the smaller gauges give a more solid saturation but when they get too small they can actually have the opposite effect so it’s just a matter of finding what works for you. Thanks for watching!

Hey, on killer ink you have the option of your standard round liners, then you have "super tight", I guess you get a crisper line with the tight grouping but does the line come out noticeably thiner and are there any downsides

@JonoSmithTattoo
@JonoSmithTattoo 3 жыл бұрын
Vasicane is probably the best I’ve ever used. Though this can only be used on broken skin (already tattooed skin) so it’s great towards the end of a session. Other than that, anything with a high lidocaine percentage will work well for pre numbing the skin.

I've met people that don't know at all how to draw become one of the best tattoo artists , you don't always need to know how to draw to be one , I am good , and I'm not a copy artist , I prefer someone give me a idea and I work off it , and typically end up being proud , I have a severe mental disease from head trauma , but with all my issues this is something I'm good at I'd art thankfully, but even when Iey my bf his arm tattoo it's not that it's bad , but the person was not using the right cartridges at all , he used round when he needed a taper , and especially for his lettering it's as if he used a shader , but this person didn't use right anything I feel , but I think a lot of people should learn this I think it's def important

You know, there are people professionally tattooing that don’t even know this. That’s why I always tell younger tattoo artist coming in to the shop to ask how they can get in a shop, I always tell them that’s they can learn a lot from people on KZbin, and at least hone in on their skills and knowledge. Thank you. Even I learn something today. 🙏🏼

So I got a kit from Amazon and I'm wondering about the ink that comes with it. Is it worth using?

Brilliant! You made everything so easy to understand. Thank you! I have a question that I can't find an answer to anywhere. I have just bought a charmant premium tattoo pen machine that uses cartridges. They have the usual 1rl, 3rl, etc, but there's also a 1d blunt needle cartridge and I'd like to know what those sized cartridges are used for.
