The best part was towards the end when you showed the room renovation, the cabinet making and then the beautiful painting. It's that triple combination that makes you unique from all of the other KZbinrs. Awesome job brother, don't ever change!

I build stuff from your simple plans for a while and never had a problem (not a pro here). It's nice to see a very detailed set of plans from you but keep in mind your videos are the reason why it's so simple to follow your hand drawn plans, so keep up the good work John and thanks for sharing knowledge with the community!

I really appreciate the fact that when you pull out a less than common tool such as that self centering bit, you take the time to not only explain what it does but you provide it proper name making it easier for anyone interested to go our and pick one up. Little things like that really make for great how-to video. I really enjoy them. On a side not. This channel reminds me a lot "Old Yankee Workshop" with Norm Abrams. A lot of style similarities.

Hey Jon, don't be too hard on your plans. They contain the essential information for the project (especially in concert with your videos) and I imagine they take a lot less time to prepare and publish. I like both kinds of plans. :-)

I had to come back and watch it again, I love this one so much. I’m realizing I paid so much attention to the build, that I spelled your name wrong …thank you Jon! Fact is I’m new to this, and I’ve watched at least dozens of cabinet build vids, and have learned that there are many different approaches. I set up my small wood shop during this pandemic, and have enjoyed learning from many KZbin guys like you. I have built lots of small things and made lots of mistakes, but I’m getting ready to build my first cabinet. This build is my favorite cabinet of them all.

Thanks for your work Jon. I'm a retired contractor/woodworker and am designing a lift cabinet for a 49" drag. TV going into a Touchstone Slim-lift. Due to a space consideration I need to make the TV cabinet depth as compact as possible, front to back. I have typical cable and DVD boxes that measure no more than 9" and will be able to IR remote them, if necessary, to make the cabinet even more shallow than that. Can you advise me on what you believe to be the minimal depth, front to back as I stated? Thanks and keep up the good work, Gannon

That was outstanding.. I can hardly find the time to complete all the projects I'd like to do with my 140 year old home. I have a sandstone fireplace on a 16 foot cathedral end wall that I'd love an idea on how to finish with cabinets. The fireplace is just under 10 foot wide and 9 tall. I've been wrestling with ideas for a while but as of yet??? Thanks for all your great work .

This is the first time seeing you work. I am really impressed. I love the idea of the drop down tv. I am going to build a new dresser for my bedroom and I am definitely going to add a whisper lift into the inside of the dresser with 8 drawers in the front a false back for a extra space for the lift.but what impressed me the most was the simplicity of your plans and build. It would put IKEA to shame.

Jon, thanks for taking the time to create a great installation video. My question is what size TV did you use for your plans? It looks like a 40" model. I'm going to install a 65" on the Touchstone Whisper II 23202 or 23401 Pro version and build a cabinet using your plans, but I'll need to modify them to get the correct measurements because I don't want to make any mistakes cutting the 8'x4' plywood too short since each sheet is insanely expensive these days.
@scottydvintagevideos2 жыл бұрын
Btw, it's impossible to find 3/8" x 8' quarter round at any hardware store. The longest I found was 48". Looks like I'll be using 1/2" x 8' quarter round especially since my cabinet is 62 3/4" wide, 42" tall and 25 1/2" deep.
@eriksprague48042 жыл бұрын
@scottyd: I have to make the same modifications, as my TV is 57” wide. Do you happen to have the measurements you used to modify this plan? I was thinking about adding 12” to the width but I know I’ll screw something up somewhere. It would be a lot easier to learn from your mistakes lol. Can you help a brutha out?
@markk35047 жыл бұрын
Looks GREAT Jon. However, I think an added storage section below to hold a sound bar, cable box and perhaps DVR would make a nice addition. Wouldn't take away from the design, but if I want this in a living room there are some other goodies these days needed to make it more functional. One more project to add to my ever expanding "list."

Ugh...I downloaded the plans...cut everything based on your cut list, you have AG (rear trim) as 30 1/2, so I cut it that way. I put it together and now the rear panel trim doesn’t match. On the cut list AG IS 30 1/2 and on the build plans it’s 30 1/4. Now I’m off a 1/4 inch. You should update the plans so no one else has the same problem...

What an incredible piece of work! I really want an end of the bed TV lift. I don't have all the equipment though - nor the talent. If only there was a basic DIY kit to buy. I just need a basic cabinet - nothing quite so fancy, just a basic box that I could stain.

Love your video and stunning woodwork. Thank you for making this vid. I was hoping to GO BIG, buying a bigger TV, a 55 inch (dimensions are 55'' wide x 31'' tall). I know i need to increase the width of your plans, but i'm curious what is the vertical clearance inside your cabinet? Maybe it be easier for me to ask you how tall and wide was the TV you installed. Thank you again. RJF
