36” x 96” Trestle Table. Hi Everyone, I’ve been thinking about this project for a long time so it was really nice to see it come together. The table is made with a combination of quarter sawn and rift sawn White Oak. The Legs are attached to the feet of the table with a through mortise and tenon joinery and pegged with half inch oak dowels. The trestle is attached to the legs with a massive lap joint and reinforced with a 5 inch lag bolt. The braces that support the tabletop are attached to the trestle with lap joints and reinforced with 4 inch lag bolts. The combination of joinery and solid 8/4 white oak make the base of this table incredibly strong. The tabletop is attached to the base with handmade wooden buttons that will allow the top to expand and contract with the seasons. I hope you enjoy this project video and if you do build the table please share it on your social media and tag me. I'd love to see what you made. Be good, Jon. You ought to be very pleased with yourself. The content and narrative you provide IS the best woodworking videos I've watched on KZbin. Period. It's always a pleasure to see your designs and watch as you meticulously build and create them. Your talent and professionalism is top shelf every time and I look forward to viewing each of your videos, from the small to the large. Thanks for sharing the things you do.

It’s great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan’s kzbin.infoUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.

Nicely done Jon. In 1960 my father had a trestle table custom built for the family dining room. It is in my dining room today and is one of my prized possessions. I have been planning to duplicate it in the near future for my daughter’s family. So, thanks for your very helpful presentation.

Jon, I always learn something useful from your videos. This one is no exception. I would never have thought of ripping the beam and then glueing it back together to solve the problem. I would like plans to build a much smaller kitchen table. Say, 30" x 58", less beefy, maybe mostly 1" stock.

Good evening Mr Peters, I was Watchung your video from Mar 13 2023. The White Oak Trestle table. And was wondering if this table could have an extension build to it. I am just recently starting to do wood working, and am very ambitious. I would like to try to build your table, but with an extension to it. I am writing from Canada. Thank you. My name Blanca.

When clamping the tabletop, did you apply any vertical pressure to prevent it from bowing up due to the clamping force? Or do the dominos prevent bowing?

Did you need to glue the trestle to the legs. Wouldn't the lag screws be sufficient? Without the glue, the table could be disassembled if needed. Thoughts?
@JonPetersArtHome Жыл бұрын
Maybe not, and I thought about that but decided that I wanted the extra strength of the glue.
@andrewbrown8148 Жыл бұрын
Great looking table, Jon~!! For the tabletop, did you to & fro at all between dominos or biscuits, or were joints with floating tenons the clear choice on this project? Understanding that there are multiple ways to go about it, I'm interested in your decision/thought process. Thanks much~!

Where did you buy the table top or did you make it? That part was not mentioned. I assume you made it but maybe bought it in 36x96???
