I haven’t done this form in around 15 years. I recall it was of the most challenging forms to remember and it didn’t help that I have always been a slow learner. As I watch your video I’m breaking this down into segments rather than try to remember it all at once.

@@JalynCroft Oh it’s helping a lot, I’m working on the form as we speak, my one man class is from 9 to 11 every Saturday morning PST. Thanks to you I’m about 2/3 of the way done. What I’m doing with all my forms at 4th degree is literally examining each and every move and figuring out it’s purpose and if there are other options including modifying them. This will take many years of study.

I know it's been 3 yrs since you posted this, but would you mind demonstrating the rest of the forms as well? You're a very good teacher. Most everyone else demonstrates them with explosive movements that are hard to follow

@@JalynCroft that would be awesome. I took traditional tae Kwon do like 12 yrs ago and I'm relearning everything so I can test for my first degree black belt. I got all the way up to red belt black stripe and then my instructor quit.

jalyn, i did a bit of karate when i was younger than i am now. i got to yellow belt. Anyway the point is this, namely that the taekwondo kata you've just demostrated is similar to a karate kata.
@JalynCroft5 жыл бұрын
The way I do my forms are similar to karate (I like the look of karate katas better than tkd forms so I tried to incorporate that). Thanks for the comment!

I am a TKD bb also and my instructor did not teach me sine wave also. I was watching a KZbin bb teach it. the easiest way to describe it is to relax and drop a bit in between techniques? I hope this helps.

You also mentioned “ sign wave “, what does that mean?
@JalynCroft4 жыл бұрын
Sign wave was adopted by the ITF in the 80’s. From what I’ve heard (since I don’t do it) it’s a way to create power. It looks kind of like a bounce. You’ll see it a lot if you watch multiple videos of this form.
@dandelatorre18704 жыл бұрын
@@JalynCroft, is that what that’s called? I’ve seen a LOT of that online and I personally think it’s a goofy way to teach people because it seems to serve no purpose. I’m actually laughing about it because it looks silly. 😅
@allenschneider1847 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for not using sine wave. It is a bunch of non sense. Not only does it "telegraph" ones move it slows down the execution of the technique. From a physics stand point, there is no way that bobbing up and down vertically will add power or force to a technique delivered horizontally. Force = speed + mass. Sine wave movement ruins the beauty of the Chong Hon hyungs.

Acch, Jalyn. The term is akin to DC Comics, aka Detective Comics Comics. The the correct term is either a bo (Okinwawan, NOT Japanese term) for staff and not bo staff or the Korean equivalent being choong (NOT a J sound just as the form in this video is pronounced Choong Gun) bong (o-sound and not an awe sound).
@JalynCroft5 жыл бұрын
As I said...everything might not be pronounced correctly. Not claiming to be an expert or even good at pronouncing Korean. It’s definitely a hard language so I commend you for studying it so thoroughly.
