I would recommend you do the audiobook for FantasticLand. There is a whole cast narrating the book. I didn't love the book but the narration makes it worth it.

I didn't love What Lies in the Woods either but you must MUST try the other Kate Alice Marshall horror. Trust me bb, Our Last Echoes and These Fleeting Shadows especially. The former is about a fog covered island with a history of mass disappearances, the latter is about an old family mansion full of secrets. Her secret trilogy (those two plus Rules for Vanishing) make me feral and alter my brain chemistry

As far as I understand it, and trust me, I am not a professional in Renaissance literature, however, I have read Romeo and Juliet and I too understood it as making fun of or showing the ridiculous side of romance, more precise, the stupidity of youthful love. Considering that Romeo and Juliet were both young, (13 and 17) even for Renaissance standards. But even more, I personally believe that the play is there to show how stupid it is to pass a feud down to other generations until no one even remembers why you hate each other. So, I believe you are right. And even more important than all this Shakespeare stuff, YOUR VIDEO IS AMAZING! I love your content!

I had DNF’d one for my enemy after pre-ordering it😢 sad because the art was STUNNING. It felt insta-love, the texts between Lev and the girl (I forget her name) were painfully cringey, and the writing was so simple compared to her other books (what I call “and the sky is blue” level writing)! I quit early (~p80) so maybe the ending picked up, can’t wait to see your review❤!

Regarding Romeo and Juliet...you are not wrong. It's not a romance, it's a tragedy. I hate that they make kids read it in high school in America because teens can be so fragile at that age and for sursie we should be telling them that they should kill themselves if they can't have their crush of less than 24 hours. I wanted to love "Into the Drowning Deep" and just could not. I heard about it partly through TikTok and people talking about the disability rep in the book, with 2 of the characters being deaf, and sign langue being used in the book. Boy howdy was that a shallow way to describe what happened. I don't want to give spoilers about what happens, but both deaf chars are rendered completely useless the whole book, their hearing sister swoops in to do all sign langue work, and it is just like.....what was the point??? There is also some really weird stuff that happens with one of the deaf chars that came across as really weird and just...wasn't good. 🔪
