Great point and on top of that..04-05 was when they permanently banned hand checking. Just with that technique outlawed..field goal percentages and efficiency of scoring perimeter players went up. Guys who was playing in the 90's up until that point..their level of play went up. And this dude sitting up here talking about its harder to score now? LOLOL. When you look up the advance stats of MJ's numbers when translated to this era's rules with the pace increased..his 37 ppg game season, for example, goes up to 46-47 ppg. You got guys in this era who dont even have a deep tool bag in their offensive arsenal are putting up 28-30 ppg on just three point shot jacking and getting to the lane like its a layup line. But yet MJ, who had one of the deepest offensive bags in history, would struggle in this era? LOLOL. The old school era, the toughness of that era and the way the game was played made MJ the player he was. This era is too soft for a player like him..too easy. Jason Williams played with a low IQ, made bonehead decision makings which led to the Kings getting rid of him for Mike Bibby. And now he is displaying the same low IQ with his low IQ statements.

He had 3-4 seasons where he shot 3 or more 3pts per game and he went 35,2%, 37,6%. 37,4% and 42,7%. If that was big part of his game I have no doubt he would be very decent to say the least, but it is visible from his stats that in years he shot some 3's he was ok. I met Bojan Bogdanovic recently, and he is considered sniper with 39% career shooting from 3. His best season was 42.5% on 4.8 attempts and MJ 42.7% on 3.2 attempts. Not saying MJ numbers are better, or he was better 3p shooter just that he can shoot at decent level when he is taking the shots at all. You can't really take into accounts anyone shooting 1 or less per game and take that as true value of his skill. Still with most seasons like that MJ is on 33% for career while Lebron is on 34.5% for career and go figure the guy can score a lot in today's league. If we take into accounts only seasons MJ shot 2 and more he sits at 38.6% which is more than decent. So this narrative that he was bad 3pt shooter is just bull. He just played in era where it wasn't as used as much.

Yeah, pussies in today’s spread out easy defensive game like LeBron would have had their weaknesses exposed in the 80s & 90s. Players were literally tackled, punched and clotheslined in MJ’s era. And, no one today is double and triple teamed like MJ was. Video is a case of an average player trying to elevate himself. MJ was the most dominant player ever on both sides of the ball. He would dominate in today’s spread out NBA.

Thing is this.. You can change eras but that doesn't change Jordans tenacity.. Back then if he had a relentless mindset to take the ball to the interior.. Mid range or to the rim...he would still have that same drive and relentless mind in today's game.. Just because he played in today's game wouldn't diminish his tenacity...shucks he was hell bent getting to that rim.. Even if it was with players hanging onto him and fouling him .he scored by choice or by the foul line..but either way Jordan was a athletic force to be reckoned with..to think his game would be weakened in this era and he would be average is foolishness.. Infact it would be enhanced on the weakness of game, and soft era that has made so many players "think" they're great today.........
@alexlanza792 жыл бұрын
Great video, this narrative is very easy to destroy, as we have the example of Kobe who played from 2004 to 2016 and for almost half the time he was more or less injured and with the new rules vs this supposedly much better players in the game, he was one the most dominant player in the 2000s and one of the most dominant even in the 2010s. So with that being said, how one can even think that MJ couldn't be dominant in this era? Is like thinking Shaq wouldn't be as dominat as he was in the 90s when other centers could stop him, maybe people look at Shaq as he is right now, but look at some 1992 footage of Shaq, that Shaq would be really unstoppable today and averaging maybe 40 pts and 20 rebs per game!

Anyone who watched those old playoff games the Bulls had vs Knicks and others know they were mad physical defensive battles in the point. MJ would get doubled often, but he was smart emough to make a move before help came. Often going to the fade-away later on in his carrier. The game today is way more open, the NBA changed the rules so much because they wanted to make it a more offensive friendly, high scoring game. MJ could attack the rim easy with how they play now, and if not he could kill them with his mid-range. Probably average 45ppg off of 15-17 foot jumpers.

Guys, look Jordan would excel in any era. But Jason is right that Jordan wasn't a great shooter and that defenses are better and more capable now. Jordan wouldnt be able to camp at the mid block I'm the same way. His game would be different but he wouldn't be throwing up 50. We act like Jordan could just adjust on the fly because he was so good in his time and don't give any credit to theore capable players and defenses of this era and their ability to adjust. Jordan used the mid fade to iso defenders and leverage illegal defense. This video is good but it smoothes over the fact that players could zone the player with the ball. Sure they played a heavy 2 (really 3 steps) off for off ball guys (tech illegal) but not the ball handler.

@@brianadams8832 Jordan was an amazing shooter, and possibly the best when it came to playoffs and finals. Defense being better now? Yes zone is around, which is definitely something that any player from the 90s era would have to get used to, but none of the elite players even play hard on defense.. except Giannis and Joel Embiid. Very few players go out there and literally play like their life is on the line on defense now. It was waaay rougher back then. Zone is obviously a factor, but it's not like they didn't just double and triple MJ back then anyway. Definitely not saying Jordan would average 50, that's basically impossible. I think he'd get 38 absolutely though, maybe 40. He'd be going to the line a laughable amount, and knocking them down.

"Now" NBA is not easy on the eyes. Teams/players just try to outscore each other. That's sexier to some people's eyes. Defenses in "Now" NBA sucks. If MJ was still playing to day ... At the age of late 20s to early 30s, he'd still be the MJ we grew up watching. If Jason Williams was a good thinker or an analyst.. MJ studies everything. So MJ could still make it as G.O.A.T. in this era. The 2 things players now-a-days don't get from MJ's ability is his LEAPING ABILITY and SPEED as a SHOOTING GUARD. His speed and leaping is too much for his height. So the way the games are played today (sensitivity) plus his inborn assets (speed+leaping), he could still take everyone + the FAAAAAAAADE AWAY SHOTS.

Good points and breakdown in the video 👌 people forget that Pippen is always regarded as a great defender, but people never mention how well he “floated” and played zone within the rules. To me, he was actually better off the ball from that 7 foot wingspan. He would disrupt offenses especially the ones who relied on a post entry pass. His hands were just too quick MJ not making the playoffs is ridiculous. His FG% most of his career is high enough where the analytics would’ve said he was better off taking midrange shots. Most forget that volume 3 point shooting assumes a certain 2 point percentage. And then you have the factor of him shooting 85% from the foul line and putting key players into foul trouble
