Most women will answer what is considered morally and socially "right" in these surveys, no matter what their real intents are. The surveys are really shallow and do not reflect the actual mindset of a woman after carefully considering her choices. The real answers to these questions are 90% affected by comparison and social positioning, or where the woman, by choosing a certain male, will be ranked socially with respect to her peers, especially these days in the presence of social media and its effect in virtually giving social stature to people based on their activities and mode de vie. The part where women are to choose between useful, useless, rich and poor cannot be true because it does not reflect reality, where the real answer to this question is very obvious, most women never choose a poor guy no matter if useless or useful, if they were given to choose between poor or rich. This will always come first, especially these days.
@adventurer36453 жыл бұрын
This is exactly right. What JP is doing here is trying influence society to value usefulness but he is well aware that most women would choose the rich guy. JP is trying to make it seem like women value usefulness in the hopes it would become a self fulfilling prophecy. It won't work. Only the dimmest of dimwits would believe this "experiment" really reflects women's choice. Human reasoning and decision making is much more complex than this in reality.
@infinitydreamzz3 жыл бұрын
You don't know what you're talking about
@infinitydreamzz3 жыл бұрын
"They will choose the rich guy" -Isolating the quality of being rich as being the only, or at least major characteristic of those people is wrong. The people that become/are rich are quite often intelligent, clever, confident, hard working, social, creative, resourceful, passionate and these qualities tend to shine, so women don't just choose rich, they also choose those qualities too. Any woman that goes with a brainless guy for his riches, is either brainless, a manipulator or even desperate. -Women are strongly attracted to social status: fame, a respectable profession, even a low paying job that provides some kind of status e.g. nightclub doorman, a person with plenty of connections etc. Money in itself attracts some women, but it is the social status money implies that attracts the vast majority. -Women are attracted to character: Confidence is irresistible, it is by itself enough to get the hottest women in someone's bed and keep them there. Women are also attracted to passionate men with interests, men with humour, intelligent men. Women are stimulated mentally. -Women are hardwired to look for a safe environment for their offspring to grow up. Clearly the ability to generate money can provide that environment, a stable job, a house. -Women are attracted to appearance but most women will sooner or later leave a man that has nothing going on for himself besides that. So, imagine being a confident, good looking, rich, famous, intelligent, with a high status in society man. Women will literally jump on your dick. 😄 Now, let's see what men are attracted to: appearance.
@infinitydreamzz3 жыл бұрын
By the way, being "rich" is not even a necessary factor of attraction. Millionaires are only a small percentage of the overall population. A lot, maybe most, doctors are not millionaires, yet arguably, women find that profession irresistible. Doing financially well is good enough for the vast majority of women, you don't have to be Elon Musk to be appreciated
@vulpes1223 жыл бұрын
Yeah you took the words out of my mouth. The bit where Jordan Peterson says that women will act in a 'logical manner' when choosing a partner really just revealed that he is far too trusting of studies and people's self report. It reminds me of the way economists try to apply the model of the 'rational economic man' or homo economicus to people's economic choices; which describes people as always seeking to maximise their own gain and therefore are uninfluenced by marketing when you just look anywhere at people's choices with cars, homes, schools etc. and you see that is absolute bullshit. They are determined almost singularly by social positioning; how you will be perceived. If they just added height as a factor for influencing women's choice of a partner to that study that showed usefulness as having a main effect when wealth did not it would probably eliminate usefulness completely. And they could also ask these same women in that study who they were dating/married to and the results could easily be assumed to be very different to what they claim to care about; it would be > taller than me + > makes more money than me. Having read people that have criticised psychology such as Theodore Dalrymple and his book Admirable Evasions which provides a deep excoriation of psychology I no longer find Jordan Peterson as appealing as I used to, or psychology as a field for that matter.

"It seems illogical" It is illogical but we humans are way more instinctual (and emotional and counter-logic) than we are logical so males are for the most part driven by their reproductive instincts when choosing a female partner, and females are instinctually aware of how to manipulate those urges and overwhelm the male with primal attraction. And as far as our animalistic nature is concerned it's all good for the survival of the species. Only a few males have developed a strong enough logic, that can interfere in the process. And even those males will recognise the attractive qualities of a woman they deem "stupid"

And I would never think any woman was a gold digger. Do you know how hard it is to mine and dig for gold. Yeah, good luck getting a woman to do that kind of hard labour. So 'gold digger', no. I was into a girl, who was obviously into me. Every time I had to give a report in front of the class she would play with her hair, would often look at me with thirsty eyes and stuff, and I tried to softly approach her, starting a conversation and stuff, but it was always as if she didn't want to talk, she would not pick up on the conversation etc. Eventually at the end of the academic year, in the summer, we had a party with a few friends from our group. And she came there too with a guy, who had been expelled from the uni a year ago and spent his entire year in the army (Russia). He wasn't smart, he wasn't a chad, he is shorter than me. We used to study for two years and he performed poorly academically barely getting "satisfactory" on most subjects , neither was he very good at the niche subject. I'm meanwhile very advanced in the knowledge of my specialization, and literally every one at the faculty knows me and how good I am... But for some reason the moment that guy texted her and decided to agreed to a relationship. I thought to myself "fuck that shit" and started to ignore her. Again the following year, she would often play with her hair in my presence, sometimes she even looked at my pants in the d-zone. And then, again, again, I tried to talk to her, but it was as if she didn't care. Now, she is at it again... Now, before you say "you just overestimate yourself", there were also other girls who showed me all those signs. Like, I know I'm attractive ok. I've consistently got those signs since school, but it's like a fukcing a brick wall or something. Maybe it's my social skills, but I really don't know. Here's another thing, there was another girl who I liked and who also showed interest in me, eventually I asked her out and she said "oh, I'm sorry, I'm busy working". Then, again after the fact she showed all the signs of being attracted to me, but when I tried to talk it's as if it's a fucking brick wall. I mean I asked her out, she softly rejected, am I supposed to jump in front of her in public to show her that o like her or what? Because this is just stupid. If girls choose by competence, where the fuck is this? I'm also facially and physically attractive, and yet I can't get girls to respond to me. There's another girl in my group who fumbles with her hair all the time and literally looks in my direction....Again, I try to approach her, I even touched her, and she is like "don't touch". Then again and again, again I know it sounds insane, you would think I'm just lying or sth, but please give me the benefit of the doubt. Another story. So when I was in 11 grade , there was a girl we talked to quite often , I didn't approach her in terms of love, but she was cute. Again she showed all signs of attraction. So, anyway, two years later I decided to hit her up and ask her out. She agreed readily. Like literally... She didn't even hesitate, just like that. We went out, we laughed, she would laugh at all my jokes, we would hold hands , and i often hinted at hanging out sometime again somewhere... Now... At the end of the date we were talking about what she was going to do when she came home, and I asked if she lived with her parents. She said... "Well, no, actually with my boyfriend". ... Ok... I was like... Ok... There I thought :"Am I being a sucker because I can't lay a girl in such an obvious situation or am just an idiot, or am I really doing something wrong, or do I not understand something in general... Or is he, too, being a lame ass-sucker that his "girl", is hanging out with a dude from school holding hands, playing with her hair and laughing at the jokes to a script"... The thing is that this girl is actually very, what you would call, conscientious, always bubbly, looks good, in shape doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, plays videogames, for real, she doesn't like KZbin , she isn't on social media (she openly said to me "...and what am I supposed to do on there?", and in general acts decent and smart, no bs, frills or anything, no ego A very very good girl by all standards. But even with a girl like this you just get checked by the brutal nature of relationships and selection. Seriously. They act like this and don't even notice. Anyway, several minutes after that, she took a suburban train and left. After the date I looked up the profile of her "boyfriend". He was some basic skinny dude, not chad, not anything. Honestly, this is ridiculous. I feel like there's something else in the game. Like, one minute they are all so demanding and ostensibly sophisticated and will screw over the guy they like, and next minute they fall for an average guy who just showed up at the right time. Like, I'm not saying I cannot do the same, but over and over I've observed that women tend to just show the most obvious signs whenever they feel like it, but when you try to softly chat them up they all switch off. It's as if they expect you to do everything or to be more forceful, I don't know. The thing is it annoys me.

The poor & rich useful guy is only chosen if they are also physically attractive.

I have never had a long term relationship. I was always very thoughtful about how the world was vis-à-vis relationships and it just didn't stack up - empirically. That's not to say I wouldn't but my criteria are non negotiable and a women would have to measure up. Non have so far and that's fine. Young men pour enormous energy and resources at the dating game. But I observed that very many older married men are disatisfied with their situation (women too) and pour vast resources and energy into undoing what they had striven for years earlier. Now in my forties, all my peers are divorced, separated or in really bad places. They ask me how I ended up with a life that I always wanted and no stress or problems (of the relationship kind). My answer - I kept my eyes open and I paid attention. Mother nature is cunning and has a full box of thricks to get you (men) into a position where you are ultimately emasculated. Be smart, open your eyes and make wise decisions.

I beg to differ on one point: if a man has a pension or any type of secured income (be it a lottery win or an inheritance paid out in monthly installments), the woman will consider him useful. I love JP but I have to disagree on some points. For starters the rich useless guy will always attract more women than the poor useful guy. Always. Money is usually at the top of the list for women. Lottery winners are a good example. No lottery winner, useless or not, has ever struggled to attract women. It’s not all JP’s fault though, the entire experiment is flawed. One thing we all know is that there’s a difference between what women say they want and what they respond to. Ask a woman if she attracted to arrogant guys and she’ll say hell no, she prefers sweet humble guys. Ask the same woman how many of here exes are sweet and humble, and she’ll start laughing at her own BS.

maybe that's why they are exes? if you start to see big character flaws, you move on and search for someone better, no?
@phetogomoteane39673 жыл бұрын
Very true, but someone better is hardly ever someone completely opposite of what you wanted before. Hence most people’s exes have an awful lot in common. I think we can all agree that a woman who has dated a rich man in the past finds it difficult to date a poor guy, even though the rich ex is in her past for a reason.

This is the assumption that a woman is the prize in all this whereas in reality the man is the prize. If a woman seeks a useful man then said man needs to find a worthy woman of his usefulness
@AnitaYadav-jp2gz4 жыл бұрын
It's a lot more complicated than that. Back in the 1900s women were reading about being a better wife and talking care of the husband because of the patriarchal social construct(men were responsible for everything be it money or security) but now those things are provided by the state and women no longer "need" men in the way they used to so the women became the prize. The technological and social development resulted in women being independent of men but in time they will also release men of those needs(bots/invitro children/men looked at like parents and such) but it will take time, a lot of time, but we will get there.
@DsDs-nu7nw4 жыл бұрын
@@AnitaYadav-jp2gz it may get there. But women will need men more than men will need women. Anytime in history any time in future. I think it is kind of wrong. Being rich matters. It is not just my opinion but if you read a few evolutionary psychology books you can see there are numerous reasons why women choose a particular man. One of the reasons is of course being rich. If you are not rich you can't take care of your woman and give a good life to your potential children. It also depends if you live in a rich country or not.

There's also a time shift that happens for women. When you're young, your attraction for sex based on a balance of appearance and personal 'vibe' is more important, as women get older the balance shifts to more husband/father qualities if she wants a family. If they were 'dusties' you were probably playing in a league of attractiveness/personality that you thought you deserved. If they were 'broke', you either saw some potential for future growth, or you were just not serious about husband/father qualifications being on the younger and carefree side of this shift. They call it the 'epiphany phase' in the late twenties when reality sets in that 30 year old you can't get as good a man as 24 year old you could and it's only going to get worse every passing year. It's when women realize that THEIR money, accomplishments, life experience, etc...don't compare to youth, beauty, fertility as attractive qualities to men. The TV show 'Friends' lied. Joey, Chandler, and Ross aren't just dying to wife you up when you're 30, have a great career, and are ready to settle down in a responsible childrearing marriage after giving all your youthful passion and sexual explorations to a bunch of other dudes.

Rich and useful makes sense. So does poor and useful, in theory. But in the same way that if a woman wants a tall, rich, slim, unmarried, younger man its a fraction of a percent. Is it similar then to assume a woman who is attracted to poor, useful, young guy is also a fraction of a percent? Because I work with a lot of useful guys. They do seem to get forgotten about the moment some danger and disposable income shows up temporarily. So is a loyal, intelligent, younger woman prepared to play a long game and help build skills, wealth and a family together.... one quarter of one percent of the adult female population? Or is it less?

It's about having a partner, someone who adds to your quality of life instead of detracting from it. I wasted a lot of time in my twenties on the wrong man (the poor, useless category). About 90% of his problems were completely avoidable, he could have had it all but he didn't want to take responsibility. It was stressful. I grew up thinking that taking someone's job or income into account when considering to date them would be morally wrong but it's about self love and self respect.
