Showcase is designed to challenge the person being interviewed no matter who the person is. If he was left wing they would attack him from the right, if he was right they'd attack him from the left. It's very common in the UK and people in other countries find it fairly hard to understand. The BBC doesn't have a bias, it's legally forbidden. The majority of people criticising the BBC say it actually veers more to the right than anything. This being said, k still don't like the interviewers technique on the question, it's lazy and entrapping and there are tons of other journalists like Andrew Neil that are on the right but still would've given better forumulated questions

I'm assuming you're not from the UK given you have no idea what you're talking about so I'll make it simple for you. Overall (as an entire company) the BBC is legally banned from having a bias, it physically isn't allowed to cus it's state funded and as soon as state funded media is influenced by the political stance of the current party it's not longer serving the people. You're not allowed to advertise on the BBC hence why they don't NEED a bias because they don't need a target market because it's NON PROFIT. This show is a show which argues the opposite point of the interviewee, it's a model used all the time in the BBC to criticize while not having a direct bias. You get it now? The consequences of the BBC having a bias in the UK would be catastrophic. It would destroy the entire platform and given that it's existed for about 70 years it's safe to say they haven't had any instances of that sort. @vestspet42426 жыл бұрын
But, he may just be asking general questions, but it sounds as if he has already decided how he feels and how Jordan Petersen feels about these issues. Why can't both men be right and wrong about equality of the sexes? I am concerned that everyone keeps bringing up gender break downs when it comes to employment participation when explaining why women and men can't be treated equally. So, what if women dominate areas of healthcare, service related industries and education, while men dominate areas of construction and most trades. Why does where women work matter when it comes to treating women decently? From Peterson, I get the sense that he's not saying it's good or bad. It's just different. I don't see what the big deal is. Men and women are different, generally speaking. But, that doesn't give men the right to treat women like second class citizens, either treating us as if we are property meant to be conquered (and I mean in a general sense, not a literal sense) Or we are expected to be superwomen and supermoms. Men can't seem to decide if we are helpless or we are omni present modern day Mata Haris and Amazonians. Forgive me for stepping up onto my soap box. You may be right that the moderator is asking general questions, but I still can tell he thinks Jordan Peterson is completely batshit wrong.

Ryan Rentfro LOL, indeed not. It is hardly possible to not be challenged, at every moment, when you are not a crazed far-left ideologue. I don't mind being challenged though. shame, instead, I spend my time responding to unchallenging comments. Maybe you could help, by perhaps watching the interview and listening to what the interviewer is saying, and the tone in which he is saying it, and then comparing to a hard-talk interview, from say 5-10 years ago, and coming up with an interesting 'challenge' based on the point I am actually making?

Ryan Rentfro No, I'm pointing out the bias of the BBC and its shift from 'reporting' to 'activism'. Thought that was obvious. Maybe you should watch more of the BBC. Great points my man, and congratulations on having a girl! The male and female temperaments are so symbiotic. One is protective, one is supportive. Neither is better than the other. They benefit each other so much. Even the Christian scriptures profess these views, despite some people claiming religion is sexist. "Submit yourselves to one another. Wives, submit to your husbands. Husbands, cherish your wives. Men ought to love their wives as their own bodies." (Ephesians 5) None of this is to say there aren't exceptions to these generalizations, but they're generalizations for a reason--they're general.

I am a woman every time I have to lift a heavy object and a man asks to help I let him do so! It is crazy to not accept help from someone who is stronger than myself when trying to lift a heavy object, smart people try to make life easier not harder. It's all ego from feminists who refuse to let men help because in their delusional lives they believe "Woman can be just as strong as men", this is unfortunately the narrative of modern society and why men are not appreciated currently for their contribution to society and why men feel useless and suicidal. One thing I have learnt about men over the years is that they still have that warrior, Hunter-gather spirit within them, they need to feel useful, the need to have goals and purpose!
@annikamoran1211 Жыл бұрын
I have never in my life seen women refusing help from a man in lifting a heavy object and then regretting it, and I spent a year in construction and do a fair amount of physical labor in my life. Usually men are too eager to rush in and offer to lift something for me, when I can in fact do it myself. I politely decline and move on with no problem because I actually like lifting things and accomplishing something myself. If it is too heavy I will accept the help but I have never seen women fail at lifting anything just because they refused help from a man.

The full interview is on KZbin elsewhere, although, in my opinion, it doesn't cover the BBC interviewer, Stephen Sackur, in glory. Maybe the BBC consider this part the best bit. Paraphrasing the full interview at on point the interviewer states, 'so you base your argument on lobsters for the difference between the genders?' I haven't read any Peterson, but as an academic, I suspect there's more to his argument than that. Indeed, he did refer to other research in the interview. The interviewer was simply employing a straw man argument. At that point I would've stood up and walked out, but then persistence is an admirable trait.

It’s good to hear an authority figure say the same things that I have been saying for years. He’s absolutely right that there needs to be equality of opportunity but to pretend that women and men are the same is absolutely ridiculous. We are different in so many ways. The idea that one is better than the other is what leads to the trouble, regardless of which one is chosen. There is a great deal of hostility toward masculinity. I believe the significant part of it is because the feminist movement has refused to decry the man haters in their movement, thus passively encouraging the idea that women are inherently superior to men. Another major factor in the rise of the concept of feminine superiority is that many men, support this absurd idea in order to curry women’s favor. Robert Bly called these men “double agents”.

I have a disablity and other issues that does make a lot of people on the right usually not those whom I agree with (because they vote against things I need to help me medically etc) but the far left is also so out of hand that I saw debates on social media during BLM where a black man was claiming his experience as a black man was worse than a woman who had cerebal palsy.
