It's not even just regret. You can have things go individually wrong & still understand that despite hurting you, the overall general common experience is beneficial. Eg I've got a rare relapse/remit chronic illness. My body + my medications are pretty much on par, tied for which one has tried to kill me more/harder, & I've had several surgeries, mixed results. 30 years into this, I have had legit terrible experiences with medical practices, including some lasting harms, yet somehow I remain charitable towards the medical establishment + pharmaceutical industries & particularly supportive of frontline + lab personnel. I don't take my personal bad experiences over evidence & I wouldn't expect my experiences to be common, let alone universal. It's like the more wrong JP is, the more convinced he is that his insights are uniquely powerful/valuable. Baffling man.

Yes, that should have been addressed. People have to be old enough to consent to get actual gender confirming surgery. The most kids can get, as far as I could find out, is puberty blockers when they start hitting puberty. And puberty blockers only delay development, they don't change anything. So the most any mother could do to "transition her child" is dress the kid and refer to him/her as a particular gender. That said, about 1 in 1000 babies is born with intersex characteristics. I don't know if it is still done, but in some hermaphrodite cases parents and doctors would make a decision to alter the infant to make it one sex or the other. And if they guessed wrong, the poor kid suffered through life.

It's basically a way to pander to the american right, his main source of revenue. But it also links to his adherence to the very pseudoscientific Jungian school of psychology (which means he is a clinical psychologist in the same way a homeopathic doctor is a medical practitioner 🙄). The idea is that the reason some myths keep transmitted between generations is that they somewhat contain deep truths that resonate with us (archetypes). The longer, the wider a myth keeps relevant the more truth it must contain. The fact that genesis also contains part that are blatantly false (the plants existing before the sun, etc) has to be discarded: the myth is relevant so it must be true in a way, and Jungian theorists like Peterson will work their hardest to somewhat shoehorn their interpretation into the text to make it true. So the question is not wether it's true, but how to make it look true, which is obviously backward and unscientific. It's also a very postmodern approach, which is hilarious considering how Peterson claims to fight postmodernism. One more proof he has no f*cking idea what he speaks about.

If Jordan is going to say that God is ultimate arbiter for what is correct and moral then Jordan you are running head first into the "The Euthyphro Dilemma". The Euthyphro Dilemma asks: Does God love good/correct/moral action because it is correct, or is correct action correct because it is loved by God? If all that is good/correct/moral comes from God then there is no objective view for what is good/correct or moral, It would just be whatever God says it is. Just because God says its so doesn't make it correct nor does it mean we are obliged to follow it.

The obsession with trans people LGBTQ+ people in general, is ultimately an extension of the underlying symptom of purity culture… a literal *obsession* with sex. I learned about cultures having more than two genders in a cultural anthropology class about 25 years ago. The class discussed “two spirit” people. (The older term was used in the course.). My mind was blown away. Many cultures have more than two genders. The concept of more than two genders isn’t new. Yup Peterson is a religious fundamentalist, that's pretty clear. Regarding Genesis, he chose to read it that way, but fails to consider the following: - The first human being that was created in Genesis could not have been "one gender". Since out of that being, male and female were created. In other words, the potentiality to transcend one gender (even if you were to assume that the first being was male... ) was built in that first human being. - In Genesis, it is also mentioned that things work in "opposite" - there was a day, there was a night; you have creatures that either fly, walk or swim... If I were to follow Peterson's logic, I would claim that there is no such thing as dusks/dawns, creatures who can walk & swim or fly & walk etc. But of course, we know they exist. In other words, we have to recognize that what is happening in the book of Genesis is the depiction of a world where boundaries are set. Every living creature sit on a spectrum of what is possible in order to explore life. That applies as well to human beings, male - female could be seen as both ends of that spectrum and in between you have many gender options. This does not make the Bible true in any way, but it does inform on the way someone looks at it. Peterson is an old, bigoted, transphobic person. He will use religion when speaking to a religious audience, and will use "biology" when speaking to a wider audience to explain his views on trans realities. He makes me puke.

I recently saw a video of Konstantin Kisin arguing against woke culture on the matter of environmentalism. He said it will always be a problem because poor people in third world countries don't about climate change because they have other more important things to worry about and are just trying to survive even if it is damaging to the environment. He completely failed to realise poor people are the worse effected, and only have no option to to change habits due to lack of provision of resources and, often, exploitation. He argued throwing soup on paintings is ineffectual, ignoring that most changes made by individuals are ineffectual on the global issue and at least radical behaviour in protest gets the message out and people talking. I wasn't sure if he was just that silly or playing to a crowd to silly to see through his nonsense.
