The internet is rife with information. But as somebody who has left a cult I get very worried when I hear: go to church. There are plenty of bad places you can end up in. And they all say they are the true way to God and Christ. Does the Bible say “go to Church”? Does Jesus say: Go to Church? What does Church even mean in the truest biblical sense? “Being the church” seems to be a biblical thing though. Surely it does not mean what it does in English today.

Find a church that teaches directly from the Bible… not that have extra things written (not the Bible) that they read from or teach. Calvary Chapel churches read thru the entire Bible. I love that. But I also don’t belong to a Calvary Chapel church, so that’s not why I am suggesting one. I just believe most CC churches are very solidly teaching the Bible directly from it. Most churches nowadays only throw in a verse of two & do not go very deep. Most churches nowadays, unfortunately, are full of fluff. They don’t want to tackle any real issues that make people uncomfortable. But that’s what the Bible is- the Truth of God. Sometimes that Truth can be uncomfortable... my two cents!! Hope you find a great church.
@GabrielLopez-mo2xo2 жыл бұрын
@@theohuioiesin6519 going to church in my estimation is a statement about come and be humbled. It’s a call to action to face yourself and your shortcoming in the house of the Lord. The statement come to church ideally calls the believer to belief and is meant to recenter them. Churches are places where you are held to account by your own guilt if you have such a thing. It’s not something that Jesus said because you cannot go to a church that does not exist. That is why Jesus gave the task of being the stone upon which God would build the church to him. You cannot seek biblically for something that existed only because of the Bible. I understand your appreciation about church but the way I view it is the church is meant to act as a constant that you must compare to you go to a church in whose ideas you believe and you continue to attend to secure your beliefs and ensure that you are not falling victim to the constant pull of your own hedonistic temptation.

First, OP was quoting JP in this video with the first part. Second, that was in reference to the fact that many young men have lost their way due to the state of society today which tries to emasculate them and punish them for daring to be strong, healthy examples of their biological nature. I'm not religious whatsoever, but JP was encouraging churches to embrace and foster their original philosophies on the nature of men, in order to give them the confidence, maturity and strong sense-of-self VITAL for positive societal change. And that's something I think anyone with a healthy concept of functioning society and the role of biology would agree to - religious or not. What is happening right now with cancel culture and the woke movement is directly contributing to societal collapse. Things need to change, and churches could actually do good, if they weren't pandering to the woke crowd so dang hard.

In afraid that the church is not able to fix itself let alone help young men become something better Because just like no matter how long you cook rotten meat it still makes you sick when you eat it. And after those who invented the bible as we know it today passed away the original interpretation was lost and replaced with the death that we all know today. And as you sit there with your phone in one hand and laptop in front of you and begin to formulate your reply to this where in you tell me just how completely wrong I am and how my description of you couldn't be more wrong and yada yada yada just realize that the way you go about things has and is wrong and will never fix this world . Now you might then say "well what should I do then?" And my answer to you would be That's exactly the problem is you let others tell you how to implement wisdom AND THATS NOT WISDOM . So I wouldn't make myself a hypocrite by then telling you what I think you should do instead I recommend you figure it out on your own (on your own)

There are challenging passages that need careful reading but the evidence is clear. Women were, and remain key in Jesus' vision of his Kingdom. @@fostermasonry I'm a Christian, but not visiting church services in manmade church institutes. Through my 71 years of life experiences, as a Dutch woman, I have a different view of what Jesus has done for us. He didn't die for us, he died and was raised after 3 days, showing himself to those who were able to see his spiritual body. We all have such a body, although the Bible chapter mentioning re-incarnation is removed from the Bible, in a deliberate attempt to point humanity's eyes on a once-in-a-lifetime obligation to live in fear for God, due to sinful tendencies and similar actions. So that it was ordained, often the subject of Sunday service, if the gate of Heaven or Hell was opened to them. Finito existence, better be aware.... or else. In short: weaponizing of guilt. A minister's daughter, my age, wrote a book "Without sin, but guilty" about her own life experiences, in the 60s. How she felt that from the baby phase she, and other children in church, were "made guilty" without being able to find a clue about what that meant. Consciousness and the experience of living with a conscience belong to a later age, if ever that is experienced, for it's not exactly taught in school, is it? The writer of this book grew up in fear of doing something wrong and receiving punishment. I'm a daughter of a minister father who preached according to Calvinistic doctrine in The Netherlands. A strong judgmental manmade church institute, forcing church members to confess their unforgivable sins in church, after which they were officially expelled, forever ignored by those who listened to the verdict in church, with a sigh of relief that they were on the right but narrow path. What Jesus established with that extraordinary fact, his resurrection, as I perceive it, is showing humanity an example of who and what we can accomplish ourselves, by following his example. The way he lived, what he did for others, out of unconditional love. He didn't save us from our responsibility to be the creators of brotherly love, respect, and an unconditional open attitude to other human beings, no matter their status. The deeds Jesus was able to demonstrate in the practice of his life, were imbued with Christ-Consciousness. It's in waiting for all of us to be embodied and shown in the practice of our lives. That's his gift, see?

It's so sad to see how few young people are in the pews compared to my memories of the church as a child, especially at a time where the Church offers what so many young people are missing in their lives. It's so sad to see so many people my age so hopeless, burried in depression and loneliness, unwilling to start families. The Church offers something to fill that void but they need to make an effort to do it. The Church also needs to stay on target by Preaching the Gospel and avoiding the pitfalls of watering down the message to be more agreeable to modernity.

Old English sounds and reads differently than modern English. Some readers might be confused while reading certain passages, and certain words have changed in meaning. For example: In the KJV you will find that in 1 Corinthians 13 instead of using the word “love” it uses “charity.” Charity today means something completely different then what it meant back in the 17th century. Today we use the word “love,” and when we speak of charity, we are referring to the act of being generous or to an organization. Another example is in 2 Timothy 2:15. The modern NIV says, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved” in the modern versions of The Bible. In the KJV, it says, “Study to show thyself approved.” Back then study didn’t mean to learn new things but simply to do your best.

(Isaiah 59:2: But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear) (Psalm 11:7; For the LORD is righteous, He loves righteousness; the upright will behold His face.) he despises evil with a fierce hatred and will judge evil (Isaiah 5:16; But the LORD of hosts will be exalted in judgment, and the holy God will show Himself holy in righteousness.) (Psalm 7:11-12; God is a righteous judge, and a God who has indignation every day. If a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready.) The Great Dilemma of the Bible is this: How can God be a just God, and show mercy to evil men? While maintaining His holiness and justice, that in love He has responded to the plight of man. And in his love (1 John 4:8-10; God is love. By this the love of God is manifested in us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and send His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.) God sent his only beloved Son to die in our place and bear his hatred for our wickedness (Romans 3:23-26; For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Being justified as a gift by His grace throught the redemption which is in Christ Hesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present tim, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.) and after 3 days God raised him from the dead (Romans 4:25; He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.) And God commands us to respond by repentance; which begins with a recognition and confession that what God says about us is true that he have sinned (Psalm 51:3-4; For i know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have i sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You are justified when You speak and blameless when You judge) a genuine recognition of our sinfulness and guilt will also lead to genuine sorrow, shame and even hatred for what we have done. (Romans 7:15; For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate) (Romans 7:24; Wretched man that I am! who will set me free from this body of death?) accompanied by a turning away from sin. (Isaiah 1:16; Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from My sight. Cease to do evil.) (Matthew 3:10; therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thown into the fire.) And turning to Him in faith that Jesus is our only hope of salvation and trust in him (Hebrews 11:1; Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen) (Romans 4:21; and being fully assured that what God has promised, He was able also to perform.) (John 3:16; For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.) (Acts 16:31; Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved) A true believer can be seen if they: (Philippians 3:3; worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh) A true Christian is a new creation and will live a life that reflects God's radical work of recreation in his or her life. (2 Corinthians 5:17; Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.) (Matthew 7:16; You will kow them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?) Assurance is based upon self-examination in the light of Scripture (2 Corinthians 13:5; Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recoggnixe this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you unless indeed you fail the test?) (1 John 5:13; These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.) These are the tests of Biblical Assurance: Walking in the Light (1John 1:5-7), Confession of Sin (1 John 1:8-10), Obedience (1 John 2:3-4), Love for the Brethren (1 John 2:9-11), Hatred for the World (1 John 2:15-17), Perseverance in Doctrine (1 John 2:24-25), Righteousness (1 John 3:10), Spirit's Testimony (1 John 4:13), Discipline (Hebrews 12:5-8)

JP does melodrama really well. He's a brilliant orator. Imagine someone having the audacity to tell churches to concentrate on saving souls rather than the planet! Of course, he's not suggesting that ecological issues aren't important and necessary, rather he’s emphasising the need to maintain focus and not to lose sight of the primary goals.

Yes, and Jordan actually knows the planet is not in peril. He said ..If we did all we can do for the planet, all that know to, in 50 years we will still find we have not made a measurable difference...He served for two years on a Canadian subcommittee on sustainable development for the UN Secretary General.

The same people who push this idea that humans are cancer on our poor little fragile planet are the same evil f*ckers who took control of it by polluting it and now that they own everything, they want to guilt-trip you into accepting to get a chip inside you to track your carbon footprint and tax you. Climate change is nothing but a tool of control for the technocratic, totalitarian future that the World Economic Forum has planned for us...f*ck that BS.

I'm a young Catholic (so as to say, in my mid 30's) and there's nothing more discourage than hearing the baby boomers at my Church mumble after church about how "they need to give up the abortion stuff" or "they need to let in Gay priests!" or "that Sermon about pornography and adultery was inappropriate". So many of that Generation honestly think that the way to fill the pews is to water down the message and abandon the traditions in favor of modern social justice signalling. They somehow think that the message that will bring the Young people seeking Christ back into the church is the same message they get bombarded with 24/7 through media and public schools, when in reality, those of us who want Christ in our lives want CHRIST and we WANT the Gospel and it's teachings. I don't want watered down empty platitudes about accepting everyone and tolerating sin.

Someone told them they didn't have to be there. Simple as that. Even before that there was the time when the women dragged the family to the church. Mr Peterson has a point. Market the church towards the men. It is a logical and humane path because I don't think there is a time in history when young men have no real place. I was thinking the other day that I am glad I am not a young man in today's society. With all of the social flux, I wouldn't be very happy with anything. Therefore the marketing point for the church - to go back to the fundamentals as it used to be.

I'm a Grandma here with my two cents. I've been praying for some time to see young men show up again at the church. That they not only hear the Gospel but receive it in full. To understand the wisdom, respect and truth about themselves and how much value and valor in integrity that has already been placed inside of them that shouldn't be crushed by the worlds demands for Christian passivity. As you grasp the truth of your design it brings an immovable confidence and courage that doesn't have to have someone else push you along. I've seen it in some of the older men who understand what they have cannot be manipulated or confused (by culture or questionable gals. -Side note, Christian woman have to be wise also not to get involved with questionable men. Had to give equal time on this one.) but a peaceful steadfastness. Knowing friendship, family, when to be patient, compassionate or bold and standing for the truth. Please understand, the true core of the church knows your worth. The Bible is full of strong, young men (even when they mess up but repent and get back on track) who have been strengthened, educated, trained in areas of being warriors, guards, leaders and kings guided, protected and admired because they put their full trust in God. Sorry about dragging out my dusty old soapbox but I just want young men (and young women) to know you are being covered in prayer whether you realize it or not. I hope to see all of you showing up at a church, learning, asking (tough) questions and searching the Bible to know every promise and gift to you from God to lead well and rightly in these days.

how about churches start shaming women, instead of pushing histrionic single mothers and post wall harlots on good men who naively trust in their religious institution to not push harmful people onto them? Wonder why all the men left, so peculiar. The very first story of genesis tells us that women are agents of chaos and it is required for men to be in authority, because when you listen to women you sin and are kicked out of the garden, but if you believed that you wouldn't push for female voters and female employers and and a wholly gynocentric society and what a shock the gynocentric society is deeply troubled almost as if what genesis had to say about how men and women should relate to each other was right. Peterson is naive, society will always collapse when you give women equality, not meant to be. The church is a fucking joke. Regardless of whether G-d exists, it's an absolute fucking joke pretend that any of these religious institutions genuinely reflect what is taught in the bible, new or old. It is always about how men need to step up but never are women shamed or called our for having conducted themselves in an absolute disgusting manner. Doesn't the bible even say a woman who is not a virgin cannot be a wife. Yeah, doubt you believe in that, just convenient feel good nonsense, that's the only part of religion women like, but when it comes to accountability and responsibility they are always absent.
@dr17422 жыл бұрын
@@andrewu2480 I believe we all agree that wrong, in whatever form it is in, should be judged. It has indeed been a long part of the western, progressive practice to elevate women. I do not disagree with the elevation of women to more openly accept a women's capability. I will never agree however, with anyone not having to have responsibility for their actions, and I believe that is what you are speaking of. Female pastors and Christians should be properly, equally admonished for everything from scriptural errancy to improper speaking and aberrant behavior.... which you might rightfully have issue with. Unfortunately, I can only surmise that this experiment (which took over in the church and the military as well as in all arenas of western society) was mandatory for society to learn what it has learned and for the spiritual progression towards what we know. We all have learned something. I can only hope that you learn the best lessons from this and do not lose hope. People getting away with negative behavior is not new. It is just a different and larger group this time. Do not let someone else's bad behaviors cost you you destiny. That is all you can do. Take care, and be Blessed.

Humans fail. Humans are broken. Some humans are evil. This is a given. None of that makes the church wrong. The church will never be perfect or pure- Jesus said this himself (Matthew 13). The church is like a field where weeds are mixed closely with the wheat. That’s the reality of life on earth. The weeds will be sorted at judgement, but for now we need to focus on ourselves not becoming weeds or allowing ourselves to be choked by the weeds. But the weeds will always be there. Stand tall in your conviction and stop asking if a church resonates with you - ask instead if the church is preaching the truth and teaching from the word of God. If yes, then it is a good church to call your home. Make an appointment, then, with the pastor to introduce yourself and do not leave that meeting without an assignment of some kind to be of service, if only for 1 task. From there you will begin to develop a relationship with the community and they with you. Only then can it resonate. Feelings (resonating): they are not facts. Truth and faith in action - those are undeniable facts. Stick with those and let the feelings follow.

@Christian Connors to which teachings exactly? I haven't seen the whole video of the genesis, but as I certanly don't think his teachings as doctrine, I do apreciate his take on the stories and that he sees the value on them even if he doesn't see them a literal... yet. He sees the truth about the worship of The Word, the Logos. And I've seen people come to Christ by studying the Word. And that's why I will be praying for revelation, for him, so that Christ reveals himself to him by the study of the Word. Right now we have a famine of men in the church. At least in my experience, more women than men are active church members, and that is why church is in decline. Because we are wrongly teaching that being manly is a sin, any male can be violent and lustful, only a true man can master those urges and be disciplined. We should be teaching men how to be men of God, but it is easier for them just the leave their God given duties instead of finding meaning in sacrifice. And that is what Peterson says, you find a life worth living, when you are willing to sacrifice to a greater good. But I would love to read what you think... but I don't know how to private message you.

Then I thought it was fundamentally just morality fables. I had been listening to your lectures from your class when I stumbled on your breakdown of the story of Joanna and the Whale and I suddenly saw it in a new light. I went from "ya ya do what God says or it will be bad for you, how many times do you have to say that." Then I realized "no it's about the fact that first I don't really get to pick much of who I am, but I do get to choose what i do about it and avoiding the responsibility to be all that i can be can lead to some hard times for those around me and land me in the darkest point in my life". That was the spark that made me start rereading my bible with a perspective that really changed what I was seeing. At the beginning of this year I started taking my grandmother to church (she had stopped due to covid) and I have only missed one day so far due to having a fever. I can't thank you enough.

I was in a terrible state when this video first came out. In fact, I don't think I would have lasted another year. I watched this video out of curiosity but still decided against going to church. It was something entirely new, and my nervousness honestly held me back from going, unsure if the churches would be open, or if they even agreed with anything in the video. But when my local church responded with an invitation to all young men to come and see if church was for them, I decided I had very little to lose. It was an open invitation, so I reached out online and visited the church in person. It was still nerve racking but now I can happily say it was one of the best choices of my life. The people I met were the nicest and most welcoming people I had ever seen in my life. I started going randomly every few weeks, joined the church alpha and met more friends in the span of a few weeks than I had done over years. I only joined for the community side, but on the alpha course, I learned more and more, and had a lot of my assumptions about Christianity broken. I've definitely opened to Christianity a lot more than I had before, and on the community side, I often go for drinks down at the pub with a lot of my church mates, and even helped grill nearly 100 burgers and 150 hotdogs for a free summer BBQ event for the community in the church garden. Some people had never been to church before and stayed just to see what the church service is like during the BBQ event. Honestly, having some kind of purpose in helping, even in small ways, makes a huge difference for your mental health. I also started to build strong social skills, and became more proficient at holding conversations, gained confidence, and as a whole, gained a lot just from talking to people at church on a regular basis and gaining friends. I cannot stress this enough, going to church changed my life. I'm not a bible preaching Christian, heck, I'm still unsure about a lot of Christianity, but participating on the community side is a game changer. If you read this and are socially awful, with very little conversation skills, and very little faith, with no friends, and are feeling lonely, please reach out to your local church, because that's where i was. I was even worried because i have a speech defect, and weird accent on top of all of that. There was not one bit of judgement at all, just welcoming. Heck, you don't even need to reach out. Just show up on a Sunday morning, watch a service and see what it's like. My only regret is it took me so long to do so. As for Jordan Peterson, i want to thank him for this video, which changed my life.

Finding a group of men at church I could be real with and express my struggles/hurts was the best thing I ever did. It got me out of a dark place and healed so many wounds I had. God wants to father you, and grow you into the man he created you to be. Don't delay any longer.

You should really read the Holy Quran. It's God's word after Christianity turned their back on any further gospels, it helps you with so much more. Islam is the evolution of the failures of Christianity into a better religion and a better path to knowing God's word.
@Popemaster092 жыл бұрын
@@Sarkam I'm open to reading it and I have been curious about it, for sure. With that being said there is no need for further gospels. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for all, dying in our place so we can be reconciled to God. That has in no way failed, for Jesus is enough. What more can be done?
@jessesleight96312 жыл бұрын
But why should I attend a men's group when time and time again, groups of any kind just dont help and are awkward and dont get to the heart of anything? There's something to be said that when you dont agree with a group, maybe its twisting you up instead of helping. I'm being pretty negative, but like, therapy and group sessions and the great "getting help" that is told will fix our lives just isnt true. There's nothing mystical about the other side of getting help. So it ends up being a weird hurting experience, or at best unhelpful.

I believe the Holy Spirit has been moving to bring about a reset in cultural Christianity, which has sickened me. Just now I heard The Spirit speak through Jordan. This aligns so perfectly with the thoughts that have been stirring within me. Stay vigilant Mr. Peterson, we need strong leaders, and ones that won't let us down. May I be counted one also.

He isn’t even a Christian though. There’s nothing Christ focused about what this man says. He sounds nothing like the Christians of the past. The scripture is very clear, imposters and evil men will go from bad to worse. The idea we can stop this from happening is ignorance of scripture and Gods will. Can one take what Christ said about the “signs of his return” and think they’re going to turn the culture around? That they can save it? No, it is foolishness and ignoring what Christ said about Christians. That “our kingdom is not of this world”.

Plot twist. Was it on " THORS -day? Odin is actually Nimrod, which is only a description, Nimrod in Hebrew means "rebel". He was also known it is argued as Gilgamesh. Now it is said that Nimrod married his mother. That would be Frigga. Now Nimrod , he gets cut up into 14 pieces and Semiramis can only find 13. So she erects, pun intended, a phallic symbol to replace it. There is a really big one in Rome that came from Egypt. Washington also. Then Tammuz comes along. Allegedly brought in an egg by his father the sun god on winter solstice. But he was a mighty hunter like his dad and killed by a pig. So mom/wife created a little pagan fertility rite to honour him. It begins on Ash Woden's (Odin) day, Wednesday, where they paint a "T" on the forehead in ash, and then they observe the "Forty day of weeping for Tammuz". This ends on Good Frigga day , Friday. Then an orgy where they dip eggs in the blood of the sacrificed 3-month-old children from last years orgy, post term abortion essentially. A Sun-day worship service, it is sun worship, which ends with the eating of the beast that killed him, an Easter ham. It is paganism. It is easy to spot. It is always the father, the son, and the mother. Isis, Horus, Seb. They just change the names and some of the rites. Hence, few are sacrificing babies on Easter. Sadly not none. What the Word of God says. His name is Y'shua. Others have set up a replacement theology and 99.99% use a name that derives from transliterations. I know the word " sus " in Latin means pig . He was crucified on the eve of Passover. Constantine in 321 A.D. changed it to Easter and the 7th day Sabbath to Sun-day worship. By edict still followed today. It's about authority and whose you choose to be under. And Rome claims her sun-day worship children. All of them. What are Protestants protesting? @@JM-lf1sl God in His word challenges people to stand up and in courage seek a life of righteousness, wisdom, grace, and authority. To live a public life above reproach. To be the elder speaking wisdom to the youth. To offer and receive accountability and maintain self ownership. This MAN is only that, a man, and therefore subject to fallacy, but his knowledge of the ancients texts combined with a life's work of study and practical knowledge of human nature lends more credibility then most pastors I've known. His challenges to the modern church are spot on, and I agree with protestants being the worst of them, as I am from that sort. He is not Christ, no, but neither are we. He reminds me though of the Apostle Paul, and James, speaking of the practical nature of belief where it meets the challenges of life. In short, I believe Mr. Peterson to be qualified to provide critique because of his respect for the authority and foundational truth outlined in the bible, for his ability to see a socially oppressed generation and be willing to offer clarity and wisdom and help, and for being a tested and proven public figure not willing to bow to the greater evils of our time. Mr. Peterson may or may not be a believer by your or my standards, but God, being the FINAL authority HE is, knows full well how to guide the hearts and minds of men, and Jordan seems a willing and worthy vessel for truth and reform. It's not going to work until they solve the girls and women problem. Just look at the average church, what do you see? It's mostly single women around the age of 30 and up. They were not there in their late teens and early twenties. And they are not there to get closer to god. They are there to get closer to men's wallets. They spend their best years screwing around with bad boys when they are in college. And now they've come back to find themselves a nice beta provider to fund their lifestyle. And the church is telling them that all their sins are forgiven. And the men are told that the past of these women doesn't count, and that they should marry them. Making lots of money for the church in the process. But their past does count. These women have long lost the ability to pair bond. And most will divorce these men a couple years later and take them for everything in the family courts. And not only the family courts will side with the woman, the church does the same. And they will simply pimp her out to the next sucker. And throw her ex husband under the bus. Now ask yourselves: If Jesus was whipping the money changers out of the temple because they turned it into a market. What would his reaction be now they turned church into a brothel?
