Interesting . . . I finally got clean and sober at 28; whereas, going to jail at 18 seemed cool in the environment I lived, at 28 it was pathetic. I also got married and became a father; however, years of depression ultimately destroyed the marriage. Truth be told, I felt so bad about myself, lacking confidence and self-esteem, I thought those outward expressions would give me credibility within society. Fifteen years later I'm still trying to figure myself out, but I've never returned to drugs. I share 50/50 custody of my girls, and I'm a much better father. I'm a senior in college studying English and minoring in psychology. I'm looking towards a different future while focusing on getting better in the present.

@@darknightbegins85 While I certainly agree that the “cult” that follows Jordan Peterson intently is as cringe as it largely revealing of just how unaware/idiotic the majority of people tend to be, I hardly see the validity in disregarding somebody of his stature because of a relatively short period of his life that he’s since received treatment for. TL;DR you legitimately seem to be just as dim-witted as the people you’re attempting to bring down.
@darknightbegins85

Elliot Alderson the man wrote a book telling people how to live their life WHILE being a drug abuser, eating only meat and drinking water then ignoring western medical advise and flying to Russia and asking to be placed in a coma for a week. Dude...what more can this man do to discredit himself? Especially when it comes to telling people how to live their life. Peterson’s delivery style reminds me far more of a televangelist. His emotion, crackling of the voice you can hear, many interviews I’ve seen the man can be on the verge of tears sometimes. His academic resume is what he uses to build is credibility in a society that values education and science over religion, and yet his delivery style and message are very religious. So he’s trying to fuse the two, which he was successful at until his drug abuse and mental breakdown. Overall, a drug abuse giving people rules for living is ironic and anyone that doesn’t have huge questions about him at this point are blind, dumb or both

@@paulgabel1845 I don’t think that’s true at all. Look at Germany in the 1930’s. What happened in “society” came from the family system. Exclusively. Why? Attachment. The first three years of life are fusion. There is no “outside” beyond interaction in the family system. For us humans looking for why self actualization is a crime, look at where we are fused. The anti-self message comes from toxic attachment. “Society” is a mirror of that. As a causal agent it’s barely a bit player. Almost nothing in this area of discussion.

A dynamic that most females (mothers in particular) do not seem to understand, is the need for boys and young men to be called out into adventure by their fathers.

And it's terrible for someone like me, who had no father involved in the process at all. So the one calling me out into adventure is man in this video(didn't memorize his name yet and can't look it up cause KZbin doesn't let you see video title and write at the same time on mobile version)

They all need a copy of "The Dangerous Book for Boys". I used to see it on the book table at Sam's Club. I would say further, girls need to be called out into adventure by their dads just as much. Not all girls like girly stuff. Don't put kids in a box. Female friends of mine whose dads did this for them are much more confident, successful, and far less likely to be taken advantage of by nefarious guys. They are also less needy and less anxious about their children, male and female, taking risks. I find that the more dependent and girly a woman is, the more fearful she is of her sons taking risks because, to her, it is a risk of losing her future financial provision.

@@helenhighwater5313 Well, that is complicated. The second part is a complete truth. But it is dangerous to fathers to call out girls into an adventure. It should be done mostly by mothers. Father doesn't work as a role model for girls. It's mom's job. And here is the same logic, that father can support, but mothers should explain why/how. Because only mothers would know very specific underlying issues which girls can meet. And as you know, these "very specific" issues will be crucial

@Evgenii Percherkin As a father of a son and daughter I have to say you are 100% wrong. A father is absolutely a role model/teacher in a young girls life. In fact I would say fathers need to be MORE involved in their daughters lives. Its healthy for kids to get BOTH perspectives, from the mother and father.
