You will lose in the "game" of love if you're already standing one leg out the door. Commitment is not gambling. Gambling is seeing if things work out. Commitment is finding something worth working for.

@@akpost8780 They have a dictatorial rule by parents to force children into an unattainable standard of academic perfection that causes an extremely high suicide rate. Jordan says you have to choose to become your ideal, it has to be a high good that also helps others, and you have to start with little responsibilities, do what you can do, and work up from there to become a good person and live properly. He doesn't say listen to the impossible standard of tyrannical parents that literally have to do with only one aspect of life that basically has nothing to do with becoming a good person or gaining wisdom. I'm not trying to be a jackass, though, I just felt I should mention this.

Which in turn improves the world around them. That’s not brainwashing my dear. You mention you’re a nihilist and realist, and you think you’re the one who has clarity? @MrDokuritsu
@MrDokuritsu 3 жыл бұрын
@@susanb5058 it's mainly because in the corporate world, your knowledge (or whatever strengths you have) can make others feel insecure. This can apply to one's boss or anyone else in the hierarchy. The unfortunate truth is that not developing oneself, and not having ambition plays right into the hands of those in power. Because it consolidates their power. What I have described are characteristics of unhealthy companies which tend to have power hierarchies rather than competency hierarchies (to use Peterson's terminology). This is much less the case in the famous technology companies, I think because it's much harder to 'fake' your way knowing math and science. Maybe that's why so many of them are successful. Just some thoughts, hope it helps.

This man over here taught me about life in hours of videos more than my parents and my whole family ever did in 26 years, and I fucking mean it. I'm just understading now that the value my life has is only up to my decision and no one else. He made me understand the importance of being the best version of myself I can be. So don't change, rather improve! Don't sacrifice yourself for those ones who want you different from what you really are.

Good on you man. You're spot on with everything you just said. Choose the right kind of sacrifice for yourself and become the best you can possibly be. My advice to you is just like JP, aim at the highest possible good like becoming a Doctor and you'll become a much happier and fulfilled person. Living up to your highest values and highest standards will bring out the very best in you and everyone around you. Take quick notice when you are feeling down, sluggish or you're not moving forward. Force yourself back on your feet and push yourself forward by any means necessary. Never let your focus turn inwards, keep it OUTWARDS on other people at all times, and keep the initiative. You'll become the ultimate world-beater that nobody wants to mess with. No joke man, you can do this and it will be ALL worth it! The end justifies the means. Remember that!

@True38
@True38 2 жыл бұрын
@Jacky Not at all, Jacky. Your focus turns inwards when you focus on your own negative thoughts and emotions, and that's why you suffer. You need to realize that nobody out there cares how you feel or think, so you might as well just try to stay positive. This is easier when you keep your focus outwards, away from yourself, your own thoughts, and your emotions. If you have a job, then it's easier because you will keep yourself occupied with work. If not, then there are numerous other ways to keep your focus outwards, like working on your own projects, start your own business, start a blog, write and share articles, do volunteer work, work out, hang out with friends and family, create something unique and exciting, help someone nearby etc. You don't have to do these things to keep the focus outwards but it definitely helps. I often sit around doing almost nothing but still manage to not get caught up in my own mind and emotions. Whenever I get a feeling that happens, I automatically force it away. Don't know about your mental health but if you've been through stuff in life you alone can't handle, then I would also suggest to go see a therapist. I did once, and it's no shame in it. In either case, also always remember to not take anything personal in life. You meet plenty of people in life and they all have their own view and perspective on the world that does not necessarily match with your own. What somebody else says or does is all about them, not you. You will find out pretty quickly that life becomes much more calm and peaceful if you just stay indifferent to whatever outcome you might encounter. You must keep yourself free, independent, self-reliant, and never be bound to anything or anyone. Master yourself and you will go far in life.

I think there is something in the universe going on that, when people on earth needs someone to show them the way, or when something goes off to balance, like when people lean on one side more, then a man/woman shows up and guides the people. It was always like this in history. I believe that man has this power to guide people to the more balanced and more healthy side of humanity.

Elite244 I have gone to university and taken philosophy and the prof wasn't remotely as good as Dr. Pedersen. The fact is that Dr. Pedersen has risen to the pinnacle of prominence in this field is an indication of his high level of competence. It is a meritocracy of competence in the world and in acedemia; where the best rise to the top. Since Dr. Pedersen has risen to the top and not any other professor of philosophy, it is clear and plain logic; that Dr. Petersen is the best or among the best in his field in order to rise to the top of that field in what is a meritocracy. Therefore, your unwarranted criticism and denigration of Dr. Petersen; when compared to others in his field, is without merit.

Northstar 17 Good comparison, just like Michael Jordan was the best when he played...Jordan Pedersen is the best at what he does. This is clearly true, as shown by the fact that they have both risen to the top, in what is a hierarchy of meritocracy.

Honestly the man really does think about a lot of stuff and tries to dissect them so he can figure out why it is the way that it is or why people react the way they do to problems. I learned to really think like this a bit back in high school on my own by accident in a period that was hard on me and during college when I had one math professor who honestly is one of the best teachers I had. He always showed us why certain math formulas make sense and didn't just give us the formula and say, "okay to calculate this, use this formula". In elementary and high school, it was usually that way for us but in college it just made knowing what to do even easier. He would literally just go in detail with us about why solving and using certain equations this way made sense and he would even do it the reverse way so we would see how the numbers always add up since math is just very fluid that way and that is one reason he loves the subject.

"the power of the spoken word is now more powerful than the written word" ...As pointed out by Professor Peterson in his interview with Joe Rogan and here is a perfect example. We are living in a time of worldwide transformation. Technology has made it easy to capture a live lecture in front of a tiny audience and beam it across the world to billions of people resulting in a change of life trajectories. I need so much improvement it has nearly killed me just to look at it all after hitting rock bottom. The undeniably profound yet reasonable wisdom Peterson has pursued not only to attain but feed back to us in earnest diligence has affected my frame of thought and offered me for the first time in my entire life; hope for a meaning and solution to my own unbearable suffering. I would have never come up with this stuff on my own, and that is the gift. THANK YOU PROFESSOR PETERSON. My kids will be learning from you, too.

Jordan Peterson’s words save lives. His decades of ingenious thinking and working things out have allowed him to become the most inspirational speaker I have encountered to date. Well done Mr Peterson, your hard work and dedication has paid off in more ways than even you can fathom. Peace and respect. ✌️ ✊

Dr. Peterson is one of those people whose words ring so true you feel like you know him deeply in person even if you've only listened to a single online lecture of his. He tells you the truth- no matter how daunting it may be- but he does it in a empathetic, non-judgmental way.

This is so crazy it feels like my dad has figured out life, he always says “I’m going to be a good person no matter what” “it’s about who you are going to be” he lives by phrases like “a job worth doing is worth doing well” and he does his best at work everyday and is such an honest person. He is naturally very smart too math comes easy to him he always says he has photographic memory. I feel like he is such a rare human lmao
