Ground hog day is an amazingly in depth look into most peoples lives. There are quite a lot of philosophical write ups on it done by 'Ned', Stephen Tobolowski, the insurance sales man. He is an in depth writer of such things. On a side note, the total time Murrays character 'Phil' spends in the loop covers ten years.

Speaking of wizards... I think I encountered one today. I was in the library which was about to close... I was going to quickly document my work at the entrance foyer. I didn't even notice that someone was there until I heard the drink tap go off on the corner of the foyer which initially somewhat surprised me but it wasn't startling. Usually I'm quite neurotic and easily started by sudden sounds that I don't expect. Except for this one. But anyway it was an elderly Asian lady, white hair and had a wheelie bag. I didn't think much of her but she came over near the table I was working on and she was briefly reading the front of a newspaper that was left behind and she was mumbling about something. Then she read out a bit louder, one of the articles which was entitled (paraphrasing here as I don't exactly remember - it was something like) "Push Away Christmas" to increase industry productivity and not to offend non-believers or something like that, and then she came over to talk to me about how she was concerned about it. I of course was happy to join in on the discussion and imparted my concerns of society losing it's fundamental foundations of intrinsic values to strengthen and sustain our community and how a lack of it is fragmenting and imbalancing our society in malevolent ways leading to excess production and misuse/mis-distribution of commodification and materialism. Then we talked about how necessary it is and shed light on our religious background; her religion is Buddhism and mine is Catholicism. It was a lovely moment where we discussed about how she emphasised that it doesn't matter about having different religions as long as we respect each other and I expanded on that by how religion is derived on spirituality and Eudaimonia; a bigger underlying foundation that religions all interpret and manifest with similar and different variations... because, at the core intention of it, we're seeking the same things; those same values from the metaphysical dimension. And how we then manifest that into morality (ie. Showing those values in the physical world), which is how we conduct ourselves... and as long as that's the core of religious beliefs, then there's no need for a divide between religions - only on the basis of morality pertaining to those intrinsic values that enrichen and balance our existence. And we discussed the importance of showing respect, and how it's not intended to offend non-believers, etc. as it's not for the sake of of manners, but rather that we promote and thus don't derail from peace and harmony which makes existing suffering so, so much worse, more nihilistic, hellish and miserable than it already seems to be. Anyway, that was an incredible experience and she shared stories of kindness from others and also found spiritual connection to a higher being twice whilst meditating in a particular place. I mean... just incredible. I really didn't expect that at all and it reminded me to keep developing my spiritual faith and intrinsic foundations to contend with suffering and corruption. It wasn't a wise old man... it was a wise old woman.... but splitting hairs aside, it's the same archetype in my opinion. Although perhaps she is not as intelligent as she seems to be wise, but she appeared to beam with wisdom and expression that she found it difficult to articulate her feelings, but I felt like I understood because I felt her aura with serious curiosity. It was unbelievable and after we parted ways, I was shaking my head in bemusement and ageless wander. That was some experience, nothing like I've had before and it'll remain in my memory. It was like we both somehow knew that we could trust each other before we even conversed and it was like a calling for both of us individually, but not being completely aware of it nor understanding the situation consciously in a logical manner. I don't even know that she was even aware that she was the role of the wizard and it was like a passing of the torch moment. Anyway, why do we need Christmas? I see it as another important medium for existential redemption and to reinstate and evolve those values and to continue contending with suffering as we navigate between order and chaos. And perhaps the female figure is the variation of the story of rescuing your father from the belly of the whale... in this case, my mother because she's someone that I've always seen as potential to break free from her own tyrannical pathology of self-sacrifice and resentment - and despite all odds, she appears to only trust me and find some peace within my presence. As hard as it is to admit and despite her controlling ways, I do love her and hope that she can be rescued from the underground... And that may rescue myself too from my past transgressions and failures as a mentally ill child with chronic depression and anxiety. Merry Christmas everyone and spread hope, respect and peace these holidays because you may yet start to rescue your loved ones and also yourself from the belly of the whale, even if it's a 1% rescue to begin with. We can't let our foundations fall and let our souls fail in our continual quest to learn and transcend.
