Theoretically, yes. But in practice, going after civilian targets escalates the conflict in bad ways. If they had only targeted military targets, it would've been different. They're also just not in any position to use violence to get their way as this situation proves... How much suffering is inflicted on them in response is almost entirely being decided by other countries, with them having no real voice in the matter. In the end, Hamas as a government, is a failure, and not suited to serving the interests of its people.

I truly respect this woman for her knowledge, insight and personal experience as a Palestinian born and honest and forthrightness. I however fail to understand or comprehend why every person being interviewed propagate for the release of the hostages, and rightfully so, but none of them follow it up with.. the Palestinians abducted and incarcerated which include young children and woman who is being tortured in all kinds of form should be released at the same time which far exceeds the hostage number by at least 10 to 1. Will Jordan help out by offering to discuss what it would accept in exchange for offering a small swathe of its unused land masses into the mix in order to to make the creation of a Palestinian state more viable, and so to provide an impetus for the sides to come back to the table with new facts that could greatly ease any negotiations? No. Does Jordan benefit from being able to castigate Israel as their Queen is doing here at every opportunity and so enjoy having a consistently successful method that’s always on call to divert attention from internal issues? Yes. I’m sure they didn’t lose the West Bank to Israel after their attack in the 6 day war on purpose- but, if they had done, it would have been genius.
