The consistency of the 300mm beating the 200mm, is clear. It might be due to increased confidence, but not bouncing around as much might be key as well. Seeing what you are doing makes me want to brush off by mullet BigHit and give it a go once more.

Awesome! The line choices that 300mm opened up must be considered on timing too! Also, high center of gravity means more stability, since it's harder to tip you out. Imagine trying to balance a broom with the palm of your hand, instead of a pencil. It also makes it harder to turn in, since you need to start the movement sooner. You really should put some money on a custom steel bike with modern geometry and 300mm of travel. Even if someone just made the Bosstmonster longer and slacker on the likes of Mondrake's. Cheers!

I wondered if the smaller wheel size would translate into poorer traction in corners? There oughta be more tread on the ground with the bigger wheel size. Awesome video - love to see old bikes being kept alive!! I wonder if your experience might warrant brands building "super DH" bikes with 300mm travel? That extra travel preserves rims, frames... riders lol. With the huge features out there I think it makes sense.

I wonder if just 50mm extra travel would've sufficed. 12 inches of travel is quite a bit, it would be interesting to test 1-inch at a time between 8 and 12 inches of travel to figure out what's truly optimal. Also, frame sizes of 120, 135, and 150 are referencing wheelbase in CM, right? If so, do you think getting a long 150cm wheelbase on the boostmonster would make it feel "less tall" and more like the Maiden but with more travel? Another thing I wonder is if different amounts of travel front and rear would have benefits similar to the staggered wheel diameter "mullet" bikes.

If i remember correctly, you got cushcore for this bike. What do you suppose it would require to reduce the weight on the Norco? Do you think there could be anyone out there to machine thinner lighter forks which could accept the Marzochi inserts for example? Maybe a custom air shock for the rear, probably you could save a small amount of weight with the cranks those cranks kinda looked middle of the road at a glance...?

It would be sick to partner with a frame builder and get a custom Ti or steel frame made to adapt the 300mm fork to modern geo to drop the CoG and and lose some weight. I know there is a lot of talk of superior geometry in contemporary DH and freeride bikes but honestly... not so sure. Not saying there hasn't been improvements but not sure it is quite as clear cut as some think. Obviously has been some big strides in many areas though, some of these older linkage designs aren't up to modern standards and of course modern bikes are significantly lighter.
