I read somewhere that most people prefer to act than to think because physical movement oddly causes less stress than problem solving. It gives the illusion of progress because it feels good while hard contemplation on the other hand creates discomfort. This do it now and instant gratification mentality makes you more likely to be controlled by others who would love to do the thinking for you. We all seen this play out among the left. Spoiled college students who demand immediate attention and purpose. Little do they realize you create the meaning in life, it's not given. We are created in our creators image which makes us mini creators too. Pick up a brick and start building. Tearing things down is easy, but creation...Well that not only requires hard work, but psychological & spiritual growth. It literally builds character.. Just remember to think before you act. Plan, set goals, and be honest about your own short comings. It's the only way to improve. Mistakes are God's way of saying do better.

It's quite interesting how the story of the tower ob babel and the story of the great flood are more or less polar opposites. One deals with an unordered society where the people only indulge in self gratification and refuse to build the structures that might save them from the great flood. The other deals with a society where the people are obsessed with building structures and are, as a consequence, detached from their own roots to such a degree that they grow apart from each other, which creates disunity, which causes the whole structure to collapse on itself. Seems like neither order->tyranny or freedom->chaos is the solution on its own.

We were meant to live in order under God, but now humanity can't walk alongside Him in the "cool of the evening" as man did in the garden. So He set a system called the Law. But it was an inward Law, not outward, and "everyone did what was right in their own eyes" regardless. So they decided they wanted a human king/ruler over them. (Judges).

If you're ruling a city, I don't think you can rule yourself. In trying to rule yourself as a ruler, you'd PRAISE yourself as a ruler, seeing yourself as you hope for your ppl to see you, blinded by the admiration by which you'd intend to be beheld, as our leaders even now might conflate their effectiveness as leaders with their own celebrity; you might be better off in the hands of a fully admitted celebrity than if you deposited absolute power into an Obama of late night TV or the guy after him who had his own show (kanye2024,f*ck it, why not). I like that Prof. Peterson walks us through the concerns of the potentially tyrannical classes who admittedly recognize the very arrogance of the intellect they also mean to warn their ppl against. There are not so very many examples of "the good king." I'm not sure they want ppl to know, but for someone to be good as well as powerful, they have to empower and obey their ppl.
