This is actually really helpful of a story, because I've been trying to find a way to make my mermaid ocs make sense as villainous characters. Something like this is actually a good way to do that.

Japanese mermaids are called Ningyo and are a lot more aggressive and scary than their western counterparts. That might be a direction to pursue as well.

OOOH those bright purples and greens you always use to highlight (what would you call that method?) your characters worked out really nicely this time! Those colours remind me of fish scales and maybe some ocean lighting colours ^v^ very pretty considering... well... the "fish"
