Thank you for your two Pentair Intelliflo pool pump videos. Watched both and enjoyed the lesson learned, no more Pentair Pumps.

I have a Pentair WhisperFlo VST pool pump just over a year old. It may be a victim of hurricane Milton. Not sure. It tries to start and then stops. It's throwing a error code 16 and 19. After removing the power end from the wet end I have it on my bench. I am trying to assess whether it is the Drive Unit or the motor itself. I put an allen wrench on the drive shaft and tried spending the motor. It has a hitch feel to it, a series of drag and release with no sound as you spin it. My question is, should it be a smooth spin or is there possibly something wrong with the drive shaft causing that resistance as it spins.

I would expect that the motor would turn freely with impeller off and the seal unloaded. The impellers outboard wear ring looks like it ran dry a few times. Been there done that myself. Good luck with the rebuild!

I'll tell you that the findings are such that there would have been some wearable items replaced in the motor, unfortunately it was not THE cause of failure in this unit.

HI, do you the size of the grounding screw for the intelliflo pentair. My old one was 10-32 and wasn't the correct size. Do you happen to know the correct size. Seems a bigger screw.

Those motors are sealed, the most common bug its bad driver. I am a Pentair warranty center here in the caribbean, here lots of cases i work are driver related, second are mechanical seals. Try out the hi temp universal male adapter. They have orings and no need of sealants usable and reliable!! Good luck

It was off as soon as you hit the breaker. The screen was still on due to the battery backup. The battery backup last 90 hours.

Interesting.... I will have a look on the board again for the battery

is there a part 2?
@retrotechandelectronics6 жыл бұрын
There is, but its a complicated issue, and im putting it together because its not just simply a motor issue

Next time you can just take the 3 screws off of the control panel and lift the electronics right off, then go do your repair and put it back.
@retrotechandelectronics4 жыл бұрын
This assumes you know the motor is not the issue.

@@retrotechandelectronics No, it lets you work on the mechanics of the pump without unwiring the unit.
