Oh that takes me right back to my great grandma’s house! She had one just like this in her living room, which she bought at Sears in the summer of 1959.

That one is a beautiful fan. It is a model F-11 (or F16 if it's older) W-13. If it has the small stabilizing bracket that goes horizontally across the bracket on the motor, it's an older model from 1962-64 and after 1964 the beige model took over until the end production into mid 1966 when the five wing W-22 took over.

Thanks for the info.. I didn't realize these were that early in the 60s.. I'll have to take a closer look and see what year its from,, I do not remember the characteristics of the motor right now.. Unfortunately I think the information tag on the bottom is worn off as usual..

Since this has been sitting awhile, It wouldn't hurt to give the motor a good thorough cleaning and degreasing, and then some new oil.

@@JordanU Yeah...even though they might be common, I still have never seen any fan before, I think, the 80's. The oldest fan, to this day, that I've ever seen that old was one of the Galaxy box fans with the plastic motor.

Nice video. Well made fan. My habitat store has one of these in mint condition and i ask about it and unfortunately it wasn't for sale but I did tell them if they get rid of it call me. But yea they don't make them like they used it that's for sure.

I have one of these, non-reversible. Spins slower than it should, and has a rhythmic tic, so im thinking bad bearing. Has anyone ever replaced the motor in one of these with something newer?

Very nice fan. I've got the same one. My blade was stuck as well, so I had to use a gear puller to get the blade off, and I was able to drop a lot of oil down through the front of the motor. Hopefully you get yours running good, because these are really nice.
@JordanU
@JordanU 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, some day the blade will be removed, the motor lubricated, and the whole unit repainted, as it deserves to be.. These were arguably some of the best box fans ever made..

@@darnellseals162 I actually have two of these. Picked them up from a goodwill outlet for $5 for both. One is the exact same model as this one, seafoam green, and the other is a white five blade, also a three speed. Both run as they should. Shot in the dark, but if you’re interested you can message me. They’re going up on eBay this week.

@@TheAirConditionerGuy That sounds like something I'd probably get if I saw anyways, but if you can link a picture I'll keep an eye out. Both of the GEs in my collection have stories behind them, but if I come across another that I don't have any sentimental attachment to I'd consider a trade.
