When the PS3 was being worked on there was a leak of what the new controller was supposed to look like and it’s a sight to behold. I’d like to see James turn a DualShock 3 into the boomerang controller that was ultimately canned for obvious reasons.

I was actively working on cleaning some IIDX 7-key panels and the buttons when I saw this was uploaded lol I personally own/have IIDX, jubeat, and SDVX cabs in my house. I also go out of my way to maintain my local arcade’s rhythm games. Taiko (HD), MaiMai Finale, Rhythm Tengoku, Múseca, WACCA, Chunithm, Pop’n, IIDX, SDVX, Nostalgia, Groove Coaster, jubeat, and a StepMania converted DDR cab are all at the arcade. I love working on them all and seeing how they tick. Actually having schematics/documentation is so incredibly helpful. It’s amazing how intertwined the rhythm game scene is with other communities. I originally subscribed to you when the channel was mentioned on Garbage Time - since I noticed your cabs in the background lol I also have a few of the pockets myself, but still have yet to power test them 😅 At least I now know what could go wrong with them when I do go to try them, though! 100 milli-henries seems really high for an inductor with those physical dimensions, but 100 micro-henries would be pretty reasonable. Sometimes inductors are marked with colored dots on top, kind of like resistor color bands. You've already got the game running, but you could rebuild the original inductor by rewinding it with new magnet wire. Just make sure to count the number of wraps if you take it apart.

My nerdiest moment of my life might actually be hearing 8:17 and going "OH MAN IT'S 20, NOVEMBER, WILL HE BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE PIANO SECTION ON A LITTLE LCD SCREEN". Also, I can't believe they considered Salamander Beat Crush to be harder than 20 November on this thing. That song is monumentally easier in the real thing.

i genuinely love the bemani series arcades and games, basically all of them have some sort of charm to them, i am a big rhythm game enthusiast and when i play a bemani game it just feels different, special. i envy james so much for having all of those bemani arcades since they tend to be really rare where i live in northern europe, as in as far as i there are like only a few arcades that have bemani arcades and non in my country of norway. it's possible to make your own home arcades (in fact i own some arcade controllers for bemani games) but as much fun as they are, they lack something from the actual physical cabs

A time where everyone wanted a slice of the hand held gaming pie, this meant pocket versions of bemani titles (including Wonderswan Beatmania) Edit: The songs in the pocket at least from what we heard are "u gotta groove" and "Do you love me" classics from that era of Beatmania. and one of the visuals is a flower with petal falling off of it. That fourth song is iconic it is "20, November" appearing in multiple Bemani series including DDR and Pop'n Music
