Great review. One thing I notice that most reviewers do is criticize one thing but they don't offer an alternative. You did the opposite. Criticize a certain aspect and then offer an alternative. That actually one of my criticisms as well, make the dialogue concise and brief.

I get it if you don't like the fluff but I don't mind when it's well written, which is the case here. I feel like such contracted versions that distil the information down to the absolutely necessary parts are only required when you get it done and over with because the presentation sucks. And as you said, this is a looong patch, so a bit of interesting fluff is honestly fine with me.

I love the fluff, but i agree that some of the scenes are unnecessary in the sense that it could have better transition with one another, like the abby scenes or the scenes where the characters were talking on top of the mountain about the key thing. They feel dragged out and for some, it'll make the scene less hype(?) because the tension is disappearing with the long pause before the battle. If they change those the game will be even better, which i hope they do

I felt the same^. I actually did like the underground puzzle sections because they were not simply puzzle sections. They were actually doing some lore exposition too. Granted that we were already spoiled of Jinshi past in the animated PV. It was still good to go through it. And I liked the sense of mystery it creates about court of savantae and kinda helps worldbuilding. For me, even their "fluff" part was mostly meaningful and engaging with useful information. The only place where I disliked it was abby's cutscene ( way too long). And the scene before the final battle with Jue, kinda feel streched. Rest of the pacing was reallly great to me.

Man I wish they'd voice all of Rover's lines. I really enjoyed that part of ZZZ when Belle and Wise would actually talk all the time. It's just so weird to me how characters are talking to you and you response with silence and they go "Ah yes!".

game pushed me to near 80 pity for jinhsi and her weapon (69 and 72 respectively). also got yinlin and her weapon prior to this update, so perfect 50/50 streak so far. we'll see if i start to regret burning my savings for jinhsi when changli comes 😭

@@JordinKun I had to go through their voicelines and paimon flat out says “ wow traveler you’ve gotten better at speaking teyvats language” This voicelines is roughly around the time we left to go to inszuma. Not to mention the traveler woke up 6 months before the game started yet could somehow read books about the abyss before learning to speak teyvat To add onto it the name that we give them is just a fake name the traveler uses cuz they don’t like telling people anything about them.

W review. On point on pretty much everything. On the longevity issue, I think we can't hope for much. I think almost all gatcha games are inherently created with the expectation that after consuming the major patch content, you go to dalies mode and chill. They are trying to balance the casual and dedicated experiance, so this is an unfortunate reality. It's not a big issue for me since I have a million other things to do. When I'm done exploring Mt.Firamament I'll go finish the Elden Ring DLC etc.

This patch locked me into this game, I was saving for Jinshi and the 10 weapon banner pulls they gave out gave me Jinshi's weapon so I'm beyond happy. I know the 40 days are gonna be long, but I'm cool to wait personally. Hope they keep the ball rolling I'd love to see this game continue to improve, please cut some of the yapping that's what I ask.

i'm gonna be honest atp i think yapping and bloated dialogue is just a thing in gacha stories. even the gachas that are known for having a "good story" have arcs that are literally full of unnecessary yapping. ofc i'd love if they can improve it as well, i think the "show, don't tell" rule would make for a much more compelling storytelling but i guess i'm just used to this type of storytelling in these types of games. even when they have and interesting story and concept, they always add a ton of fluff for some reason.

You opened up about the 3 things to complete 4 times but offered an alternative regarding the talking. I thought you were really gonna offer a good alternative to the puzzles. Also, the alternative you offered would change Abby's personality. Having him eat and not answer would just cement the fact that he doesn't care too much which will cut a lot of his talking and essentially becoming a second MC and change his personality to a snobbish thing that only likes food. Its all up to preference but I honestly think if they implemented what you wanted Abby won't be well received as they are now. The timer thing personally will just take me out of the immersive experience and just have me check how long the talking is.

Weakest parts of this update to me are the storytelling(like he said in the vid) and the writing. Theres still quite a bit of yapping and repeating stuff in the dialogue. But other than that, this update was freaking amazing

Jué is a Sentinel, and I hope we get to meet more like them, I loved how imposing they were in the story, and hearing their voice in English was a pleasant surprise as it sounds really good (I play in Chinese). I like to think that we players will still have more things to do for this patch, as Changli's Companion Quest is yet to be released, and I think they will be adding additional events for the patch, I could be wrong though. I really like and appreciate your review! It's good to see someone finally offer alternatives to fix or change certain aspects of the game for it to improve instead of just mindlessly complaining. Your voice is also pretty calm and pleasing to the ears, you just earned yourself a new sub! Looking forward to more future reviews from you ❤

Very true about the game just crashing in Mobile. Had to quit bcuz it keeps stuttering even though my phone can handle Genshin, HSR, and ZZZ. There's just something that's unoptimized I think. I did what as much as a I can to make it run smooth even in the lowest possible setting.

letting only Jinshi fight Jue and rover just only watch is fucking emotional, If it was Genshin I'm like 90% sure the Traveler just come in save the guy doing the 1v1 or the traveler is the one resolving other people affairs. I didn’t do the story quest till about 3 days ago, I haven’t unlocked all waypoints, I learned my lesson in genshin, spread it out play it in bursts game doesn’t feel “dead” if you’re not playing for 8 hours a day.

The only issue for me is the repetition of dialogues which lead to dialogue bloating. Fortunately, that's just the middle part of the main quest, everything else is fine. I feel like the second half of 1.1 patch is related to that maple tree at the middle of mt. firmament.

They should implement a round based game mode, similar to Warframe, where you have to defend an object from enemies, and every 5 rounds, the enemies get slightly stronger. As for the rewards, it should be Exp items, materials, and echo tuners, and the longer you stay, the more rewards you shall receive. By adding this game mode, it'll incentivize players to keep grinding the game whenever there's a content drought, as well as prepare for the next patch/character banner.

I hate that since the start of the game the only thing they've done with river is glaze them to hell and back. Generally speaking I don't like the story so far. In concept it's fine but chapters 1, 2 and 3 are mindless expo 4 and 5 are pretty good, and 6 is just jangling keys and flashing lights to hide bad writting and pacing. This one was amazing. The scenery and way they set the mood with changli leading you in. How they play into the tension and love between her and jinhsi. The way Jué plays into everything. All that, until they lose all momentum to glaze rover and make them the center of focus again despite the important part being Jinhsi and rover's roll with Jué adding nothing. Also side note, after playing zzz and hearing good voiceacting again I can't stand another second of the poor va's trying to guess at what's happening while burrying their at times VERY thick accent while direction is taking a smoke break.
