This is why I love listening to you guys bec you can passionately articulate my thoughts about the games haha! Anyway, I'll try to list my thoughts here about the DLSU-UST game: - I was also surprised by the early subs in the 2Q. But I want to see more of Konov maybe in the 4Q kapag safe na (like in the 1st round vs UST din ata where he shot a quick 3). - Doy Dungo should practice his layups. Sayang kasi he can slash the defense with his long legs but he can't finish well. - For the 1st time, I was happy with Henry's game: hitting 3, driving against Mo, blocking shots, rebounding. EXCEPT for that crucial turnover in the last minute of regulation. - I'm prepared to shoutout JC as the silent but steadiest player of DLSU but then he made costly turnovers in 4Q. - Coach Topex shouldn't sub out KQ in the 4Q (except for foul trouble or off-night which wasn't the case this time). If KQ has the energy to play in a brgy league after the game, he can play the entire 4Q! - I told myself kapag umabot sa OT, baka hindi na makascore ang UST due to fatigue & shallow bench. Muntik na nga kasi pati FTs halos di nila mapasok. UST fans are now saying at least they're done with UP & DLSU. Sorry but you'll be playing against a rejuvenated Ateneo team without your suspended FSA this weekend. So delikado pa, and no thanks to Mo's low EQ antics. As much as I'm entertained with DLSU's games, parang gusto ko muna ng lopsided game like their AdU game. Di ako makatayo sa upuan kagabi lalo na nung 2nd half grabe!

For any indication UST have found how to unlock Paranada. He should play together with Padrigao. Also they should play faster from now on. If Tounkara returns from suspension he should handle the ball more on top of they key. Similar as to what Anthony Davis doing on the Lakers a bigman can handle the ball. He can beat bigger guys off the dribble & shoot the 3. UST can still upset a team or give them trouble once they figure out. But nonetheless theyre setup for next year to contend

Gutsy win for the DLSU Green Archers jusko HAHAHAHA had Forthsky made both FTs in that unsportsmanlike foul, we would have lost that game. But the size of UST really did them in the OT which they had little to no chance in leading for 5 more minutes. Btw, that Henry Agunnane 3 almost threw me off my seat xD slowly improving but still more to fix for this team. Kudos to UST for a helluva game.

NU vs FEU Jorrick Bautista is heating up as shown by the following averages: First five games (all losses) - 11 points, 33% two-point field goal accuracy, 24% three-point field goal accuracy Last four games (3 wins, one loss) - 18 points, 51% two-point field goal accuracy, 30% three-point field goal accuracy Note: FEU wins are versus teams in the bottom half of the league with a combined win-loss record of 7-19 and two of it's wins were in overtime. DLSU vs. UST It was a tale of two defenses for La Salle. In the first 15 minutes of the game, DLSU limited UST to 20 points including one made three- point field goal while scoring 40 points. For the remaining 25 minutes of regulation, UST outscored DLSU 60-40. When La Salle is able to prevent the opposing team from scoring, this performance spills over to their offense and their shots just keep falling in. On the other hand, if their opponents are able to score on a regular basis, this affects their offense and plays start getting disjointed and more turnovers are committed. The last minute of regulation is most telling. With 1:16 minutes remaining, KQ makes a three point shot and increases the lead to six, 80-74, in favor of DLSU. On the next play, Paranada is able to get free and hits a three-point shot. If you watch the replay, David rushes in to cover Paranada and his legs clip that of Paranada as the latter is going down. That could have been called a foul. On the following play of La Salle, KQ attempts a three-point shot and misses with the ball bouncing long to Paranada who immediately passes to a streaking Cabanero for an uncontested lay-up. After a botched pass by Austria on the succeeding possession of La Salle, Padrigao is able to get a pick and breaks free for another lay-up until Mike Phillips grabs him from behind. Three consecutive plays on defense wherein the opponent is able to score six points in less than a minute.

A great summary, Carl! If i may add, the zone defense really flustered DLSU in this game. It slowed the game down and forced DLSU into more turnovers. This is a concerning pattern for DLSU. They can't seem to figure out zone defenses on the fly. The same thing happened in the UP game and their first round loss to UE. However, we have seen them bust the zone in certain games soooo go figure 😂 very polarizing team - Gab

I understand why some fellow lasallians were pissed off at the way DLSU won yesterday, though I was with a group who was just enjoying this departure from your annual DLSU-UST beatdown, and laughing at how they played the entire time. Ika nga nila, DLSU played around (in the 2nd) and they found out 😂Guess the current formula to beat DLSU is ironically zone them out with a small lineup, make all your threes, and make sure that Kyle Paranada is playing for that team 🤣🤣 Funny too how DLSU struggled against the zone again after coming off a game where they beat arguably the best Zone D in the UAAP. Amazing too how strict the UAAP is with the travel calls... I think I counted 10+, including 3 straight from Nic, and the usual suspects (Hi Motor Mike).

Watch the game earlier in moa, the subbing in of konov and rubico is planned. They warm up before getting in the court like raven gonzales. The plan of coach topex back fired but KQ save the day tally 29 points which is his career high. UST had their chances but the best their best chance winning against lasalle is in regulation. Cabanero missed 5 free throws which is crucial and he needs to fix it.

I was one of those people who turned off Pilipinas Live after Q1, sabi ko wala na to. 😂 Lo and behold paggising kanina shocked to see UST have a late rally! Pang ilang OT or cardiac game na ito and we just started Round 2 ❤ even though i’ll be an Ateneo die hard til my last breath 💙 im always happy to see more competitiveness in the league and always happy to see close matchups! The Final Four and Finals is gearing up to be really exciting ❤

Tounkara was the POG last time they faced ateneo, if I remember it correctly. Do you think ateneo has a chance to win next saturday, given that he won't be playing? Although I'd say having the home court is another edge for ust.

We’ll see. It will definitely give Ateneo a better chance but remember that Ateneo didn’t have Lazaro last game too. That’s also one of their best bigs. Playing at home is definitely a big boost for UST though it could also put more pressure on them. Whatever happens, hopefully we get an exciting game hehe

I think Coach Topex was training his 2nd and 3rd stringers to play when they are in the thick of things rather than during garbage time. So good experience for Konov and Rubico, but it might have backfired for the team.

I think another questionable decision topex made was leaving agunanne on the floor for more than 5 mins in the 4th and then benching KQ for at least 4 mins, only to bring him back sa last mintue. Honestly feel that topex was experimenting again but this was such a head scratcher from him and I agree minsan talaga di mo alam anong DLSU makikita mo every game and it makes them so polarizing. Also kudos din sa UST that small ball almost embarassed us, and they shot the lights out sa 4th nawala lang sa OT 😅

Thank you Boleros for that quick reaction sa games kahapon. To clarify, UST fans are still hoping pa rin naman sa final four. They’re a bust kung un ung hindi nila makukuha pero, they’re not a bust kung finals ang goal. 1st few minutes, d maka score UST. Simula dun naiwanan na sila. But they kept that 13 score diff majority sa buong game (except dun sa naging bente ung lamang, grabe haha) So somehow, kahit malayo score kept watching pa rin pero nag iisip na rin na wag na ituloy panonood haha. Then before the 4Q, they limit the lead to 1 digit. And ung end ng 4Q, grabeng kaba binigay sa UST fans na ang tagal na last naranasan. Hoping na nga lang ako nung tambak n kahit talo, limit lang ung lamang ng kalaban, pero biglang lumaban pa haha Binibigay na ng LS ung game, and hindi tinanggap ng UST. Sayang 😭 Pero as a UST fan, ganitong matches ung nagbibigay ng hope, na they’re back sa UAAP MB. Hopefully dumami rin fans sa arena. It’s a moral victory na we’ll take (for now, dapat sa future take that wins na) Question, what do you think will happen sa game vs ADMU if madeny ung appeal ng UST dun sa 2nd technical foul ni Mo kahapon? Before the match, the thought of losing to UST was playing loudly. Then the game begins, 11-zip, all good. Then the 2-3 zone, emptying the bench, the TOs. I dunno which was more frustrating, this or the weakest link Agunanne (thank God he can block but NAH Agunanne cringes mooorree). Was prepared to take the loss until the Forthsky miss(reminded me of KQs). Sigh of relief, we got this in OT. Good that DLSU got exposed to the 2-3, which i bet will be corrected. Better to do this than later in the season.

Mo is not a big. He's more of a wing but due to UST's lack of size (where Mahmood and Laure are the only bigs the team has lol), he's forced to play out of position. A lot of people are comparing him against Momowei who clearly can dominate the game but they don't play the similar positions IMO. What UST has to do is to move him to the 4 and let Mahmood start. This, I think, balances the lineup more and preserves Mo in the end game. This game showed that nobody in this team really crash the board. What I'm more curious is why Chase Lane has not played significantly yet.

I think it's fine. A lot of the travelling calls are really travelling, in my opinion. Even on TV, alam ko na travelling before they even make the signal I think it's a point of emphasis for the refs to be strict about it - Gab

DLSU's Mantra in OT, Mind Over Heart. With his performance, KQ might just sealed his Back to Back MVPs. But what a Cardiac game, 14-0 to start the game then biglang nahabol ng UST and nag OT. Buti na lang lumabas ang composure ng DLSU sa OT and medyo nag rely masyado sa 3 pts ang UST hanggang sa naubusan nila. Happy for DLSU pero nasayangan lang sa UST kaya naman nila eh maging more composed lang sila. But great game overall!

I'm a UST fan but Mo Tounkara should tone down his emotions during the game. He likes to trash talk but you haven't proven anything. Just borrow a page from the UE vs DLSU wherein Momowei and Philips had their respective in your face dunks but they didn't flex or talk trash. Learn how to give respect to your opponents. Ugly win by DLSU. I say ugly game because of the crazy turnovers, bad spacing loading up 1 side of the offense x zone defense and the effort specially in the 4th quarter. Not to discredit UST, I thought Paranada came in to the game with a lot of fight, tinutuloy tuloy din ni Cabanero yung scoring nya, I think naka 3 din si Padrigao, and ayun nakahabol. Was thinking, panalo na UST until Forth missed the free throw. Another point (being an Ugly game for DLSU) are their tendencies. These “bored” or careless tendencies has led them to losing a game in Filoil (yung sa UP talo talaga) and to UE in the first rd. Going back to this Game, I think the zone defense of UST is really good. Zone Defense - transition play and 3s ang strength nila. Shoutout to Mo Tounkara - galing ng mga pull up jumpers and handles. Sayang lang dahil sa 2 technical. Naveen reported that Mo will be suspended daw next game. Hindi ba 3 technicals (Accumulated) dapat not 2 to get suspended?

Agree with the bad tendencies of DLSU. We've seen it over and over again. Very confusing because we've seen them do away with it As the above comment said, an ejection triggers a suspension, not the number of techs

I think Padrigao does deserve the starting PG role but, if I were the coach, I would send him to the bench when it’s crunch time

I don't mind those attempts by Padrigao. He's shown the ability to hit those. The first one may have been too early in the clock but the second one, he had no choice because Cabañero was trapped and there was barely any time left - Gab
