I can think of 3 books I'd love to see reviewed. Heroes of the orient by marc altfuldisch, humblewood and grim hollow. Considering your collection of lore, a position in Candlekeep makes sense.

I was thinking of picking this up, and i probably wouldn't have any use for the classes portion at all, it would be all about the lore. So, yeah im on the fence with paying >$15 for the rest of it.

First off: I applaud and really love the fact that SO many DM's Guild products are plugged and used in this! I have been a proponent of using material together since I first found the website! Second: I am disappointed about the straight reuse of Archetypes from Player's Companion and the lack of disclosure for that, either in the text or in the credits. Even if the author of those subclasses wanted to use these in this new product, they should disclose that. Now, I love the lore and the magic items. The spells are less than stellar, but coupled with Blackstaff's Tome, it is forgivable (several of the spells are from that book, as well). The part I cannot do without, though, is the tie-in with Descent. I think it makes it flavorful and although it will not appeal to everyone, it definitely did to me.

@@milah_lilah Well bardic insperation is about a 15 to 20% increase to your probability to succeed on a roll. That is all it is, but just the probability before the d20 is rolled. If you roll and you are 4 or 5 away from success you can roll bardic inspiration to succeed but you might fail, you're just as likely to fail as succeed in the case of the 4 and it becomes more likely to fail than succeed for a 5 or higher. Knowing exactly what bonus to your roll you get is an extreme benifit worthy of being its own subclass feature that can compete with the other 3rd level abilities for bard subclasses, it doesn't quite match up with cutting word but it's EASILY as good as any of the other such as combat insperation.

I have no idea why every publication feels the need to include new classes, subclasses, races, subraces, or all of the above. They're always either overpowered, or extremely lame. This is really starting to get ridiculous, and it will eventually mean the death of 5th Edition. Homebrew needs to remain at HOME. Thanks for the review, though. I'll just wait until I can get it for free on you-know-where.

I would think they add sub classes so players buy them. This book is good for DMs but as a player, sub classes would be the only reason I would buy this.

@Bob Bob - It's not a matter of strength, and humans are only so strong so they will be played-- and even that never works. The races have been expanded to the point to where every medieval tavern resembles a space port in Star Wars. Everybody wants to be the "special" character, and with things being what they are today, they confuse an identity with a personality.

They just need to STOP coming up with sub classes. They are just over lapping current classes and need to maybe just make a NEW class all together.
