I was at the sound check of the Vitoria Jazz Festival with my little daughter and suddenly some young guys were on stage and I thought they were technicians until... Jose James opened his mouth, it was literally a change for me from that moment. I had never heard anything like that, that voice. that drums, the late bass, what I'm going to tell you about. What they played was "Save your love for me." Jamie Cullum was sitting a row of seats back making a joke. They hugged and at night they played a song together. Unforgettable.

I am increasingly surprised by the number of very young musicians who pick up the heritage of jazz, from Coltrane as this extraordinary sax player, as Kenny Garrett did. JJ is an extraordinary musician and always surrounds himself with the best of the best. Plus he sings.
