The 2004-06 squad Jose has was incredible. How they didn’t win the Champions League is astonishing to be honest.
@mushyw1234
@mushyw1234 5 жыл бұрын
In fairness to them they were knocked out by the eventual champions in both seasons. Unlucky with the ghost goal in 04/05 but to not score in 180 mins vs a Liverpool side that had conceded 41 in the league that season is somewhat poor. 05/06 saw them having to play 2/3rds of the 1st leg with 10 men and needing to go to the Nou Camp to score 2 which is a tough ask to be honest. 06/07 they should have got to the final imo, though the squad wasn't as cohesive as it was the previous two seasons. Again, failing to score an away goal cost them dear in that semi-final, and in truth they were probably fortunate to take it as far as a penalty shootout, so rampant were Liverpool in that game. I do agree though, for three seasons running they were the strongest of 4 semi-finalists and didn't manage to reach the final

mushyw1234 I think sometimes in football a team is just meant to win a cup, or game, and 2004/05 the universe laid out the Liverpool story. That for me was the season Chelsea were Europe’s best. Inter had their story laid out in 2010 when Barcelona were the best side. 2012 Chelsea had their own miracle laid out for them, when they weren’t even close to the best team that season! Just the way football works.

@@mushyw1234 They weren't stronger than AC Milan and probably were not overall stronger than Barcelona, either. Plus, even though they were better than Liverpool, they lost to them in that period TWICE, both times in the semi-finals. That is a massive disappointment for a team of that quality.

It's a testament to this channel, how comfortable it makes the managers feel, that Mourinho's "sense of duty" comments is the closest thing I've got as a Chelsea fan (from the man himself) explaining some of his behavior as United's manager. I pretty much knew that anyway, most Chelsea fans do deep down, but it's nice to hear him actually say it, indirectly - that his attitude towards us in that time (as if we were just another rival to him) was completely from the prospective of a United supporter. Doesn't make up for calling United fans the best he's ever worked for seemingly forgetting we were unanimously behind him in 17th, but it's a start :) Fantastic series here. I'll never tire hearing Mourinho talk about football, can't wait for the Inter one.
@Augiee31892
@Augiee31892 5 жыл бұрын
I don't know whether it is just me who's being rather deluded (can't help, this is the guy that makes me support chelsea). But somehow I feel like that "sense of duty" during his manutd tenure, especially towards the end, were more of professional obligation than a true heartfelt sense of duty. I bet it's hard to keep your senses when you're surrounded by overpaid divas and social media clowns instead of real tough players. But he definitely should hide it and (unfortunately) opt for attacking us instead :(

@@Augiee31892 It did look from the outside like he never properly settled at United, and his public mood has completely changed since he left - like a weight has been lifted. Which is good to see, grumpy Jose is just unpleasant for everyone.

The channel's boss is Peter Kenyon which might explain it. I can't find any quotes of him calling Man United fans the best, although let's be honest he lies and contradicts himself a lot to curry favour with whoever is employing him at the time. I'm sure that 90% + of staff couldn't care less about the club they work for, and just see it as a job, with more or less professionalism, but fans like to delude themselves. Jose is nicer about Liverpool than he's ever been about the English clubs he worked for, bizarrely, (that's the club he's referring to who asked for him before the CL semi, if it isn't obvious).
@HHHBFResurrected
@HHHBFResurrected 5 жыл бұрын
@@ktkee7161 It was about 2/3's of the way through his first season at United, random throw away comment but to us it cut deep - baring in mind he'd been making snide comments about us for months before that (after we beat United 4-0 at SB that season). That lead to the booing in the FA Cup match, which lead to his 'Judas is no.1' stuff and so on. Most Chelsea fans weren't foolish enough to believe he belonged to us or anything, minus the small minority nobody blamed him for going to United, but considering how much support we gave him over the course of those two spells - from the best to absolute worst of his time with us in 15/16 - we felt entitled (rightfully IMO) for him to at least treat us with abit of respect even managing a rival. There's no way Pep would talk about Barca, Klopp about Dortmund, Benitez about Liverpool, etc... the way he spoke about us while he was managing United. Was a grave disappointment.
@HHHBFResurrected
@HHHBFResurrected 5 жыл бұрын
@@ktkee7161 I get what your saying about fans perhaps being too sensitive, but managers have to start taking responsibility for what they say - in general, not just in relation to this topic. The Benitez example is classic. He strolls in without addressing a single derogatory thing he said about us as Liverpool manager (which included categorically stated he'd never manage us) and seemed to expect we'd just roll with it? He basically implied we were soulless in a cheap unnecessary attempt to pander to Liverpool's fanbase. I never booed him personally, but I'm not gunna even try to suggest those who did weren't completely justified for doing so. If he'd have addressed those remarks immediately, apologized, thanked the club for the opportunity, etc... I think you'd be surprised how many Chelsea fans would've at least supported the team even if they didn't want him. What made Mourinho's comments feel like such a betrayal was the fact we were behind him when NO-ONE else was. Singing the praises of a winning manager is easy, but in that 15/16 season when everything was against him - players, staff, press, etc... we showed just how admired and valued he was here. I remember one game in particular against Kiev his name was sung at different sections of the ground pretty much for 90 minutes. It was such a unique demonstration of support for a struggling manager that Jose should've felt proud to be the subject of. Time heals all wounds, I'm sure given enough of it the majority of Chelsea fans will forgive and forget, but he was the one who choose to change the relationship that may well never be retrieved to what it was before. He choose to speak about us like just another rival while at United, so we treated him like just another rival manager. His decision, not ours.

People trolling on the internet have no fucking idea, NOT EVEN FUCKING CLOSE, how incredible what José did truly was. Can you even comprehend what Porto winning that champion’s league meant for world football? And the man went on to win EVERYTHING in his next two clubs under similar circumstances. NO ONE in the history of the sport ever came even close, NOT EVEN IN THE SAME GALAXY of these achievements. In those 7-8 years José was easily the greatest manager in the history of the sport and there’s not even anyone remotely close to try and make a case for. It’s him, simple as that.

Mourinho needs to hire better assistant coaches who have knowledge about the technical aspects of modern footballing tactics, so that he can reinvent himself. He deserves to work with a top sporting director that shares his vision for the club to help him build a team. Because Inter Milan has appointed Antonio Conte. I think he should take up the job at L.O.S.C. ( Luis Campos is sporting director of the club who worked with Mourinho previously at Inter Milan ), A.S. Monaco or a German club & take them to U.E.F.A. champions league glory.
