He was big at the time but never on LeBron's level. Other that juicing to hit homers he wasn't an elite player. Career average is . 266. 462 homers but played a ton of years to get to that. Good speed for his size but not a great fielder or hitter for average. Just used juice to try and excel in one area

Truth! People who didn’t grow up in that era have no idea how big an icon Jose was. His Nike posters were everywhere. He was the first pro athlete to rock those futuristic sunglasses. He was the epitome of cool. My friends and I would buy baseball cards and if you got a Jose card it was like winning the lottery.
