Very interesting hearing him talk about hitting home runs in different parks. That was fascinating.

The numbers don't reflect what he's saying though, especially in Griffey's big homer years: 1996 26 at home 23 away 1997 27 at home 29 away 1998 30 at home 26 away 1999 27 at home and 21 away. 1999 is the only year where it really looks like an anomaly and even that is only 6 hr's difference. 1995 was a huge discrepancy at 13 to 4, but he only played in 72 games.

Word!!! Unbelievable team. True story: I live in the city of Pittsburg CA. One day I had nothing to do so I decided to watch the local semi pro baseball team at the park by my house a few years ago. While I was there, I was surfing the net on my phone. I hear the PA announcer say "now batting, Jose Canseco". I look up and it was really him I couldn't believe it. I wanna say this was around 2017? I think.

Dutch3k5:. What he was saying about Oakland-Alameda County Stadium was that since it has so much foul territory foul balls that usually went in the stands at most parks were outs there. You had a lot of foul territory outs there which cut down on your opportunities. That was the same at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.

@Wil aka Jigga Moo Agree. I used to think how did Mickey Mantle hit a 565 foot home run when most of the long balls hit in the last 50 years with all the steroids and weight lifting never came close to that. Like you said it has to be the ball.
@hennylo68

I think that's what took a lot of homeruns from Miguel Cabbrerra. He's played all those years in Comercia Park which is horrible for homeruns and before that he played at Dolphins stadium. Which is a football stadium. Had he played in hitter friendly ball parks, he'd probably be sitting on 600 homeruns by now.

@@thejmc4074 lol snitching????? You think it’s snitching? It’s a professional sport that should never have steroids in it. It’s fucking baseball man. If you need to get roided up to play, then you never should’ve been there to begin with. It makes sense in physical sports like football, hockey or combat sports….but baseball man…he should be snitching, cause 95% of the other guys aren’t. Now, when youre talking about combat sports 100% of them are using steroids. So no one is really ‘cheating’ it’s just a matter of who actually gets caught by USADA. Hell Nate Diaz even said it best when asked about Jon Jones using performance enahancers…he literally just said to the reporter ‘who isn’t taking them?’ That’s what a real man does, lays it out for everyone to see rather than pointing fingers at individuals. Baseball is different because there were only a handful of dudes actually doing it.

Lookup the Kingdome field dimensions, that ballpark heavily favored lefthanded batters, only 312' to the pole, and a mere 362' to the alley. For righthanded hitters, 331' and 376' respectively, but the controlled environment of being a dome is what Canseco is referring to here. No wind, no humidity, in an environment like that the ball definitely carries.

It's true what he said about McGwire in 87. He hit 49 homers and sat out the last 2 games of that season to be with his wife who was giving birth any day. He could have hit 50 that year as a rookie.

True Story. Was either later 1989 or early 1990 and I was going to school in Boston. Walking down Boylston Street not far from the Berkeley College of Music. I look over at the bridge that crosses the Mass Pike (I had to be at least 150 yards away) and see this guy that had just come out of the Hynes Convention Center T station and I did a double take because this guy was the biggest human I had ever seen. Is still clear in my memory as if it was yesterday. Wearing a white undershirt with jean overalls and huge $%!kicker work boots. I watched him take a left and proceeded to go on about my day. Later that evening or the next I was talking with a casual friend of mine who worked at or knew someone who worked at the Sheraton who just happened to mention that the A’s were staying there for a weekend series. Only then did it dawn on me that it was Mark McGuire who I had seen the previous day, that guy is from another planet.
