I love the insight of how thoughts slide info the mind, without the initial impact that sounds and the other senses have. It can take a while to notice we've been swept away.

In my mind, Joseph Goldstein is one of the clearest teachers of mindful living out there. I suspect that he is this clear because he is committed to living according to the precepts that he teaches about. We're hearing the words of a man who has walked the path that he describes to us.

one thing I find helps me is that instead of saying "I am sad" to say "I have a sad" and later resolved this to "there is a sad" or "there is an anger".

It is so amazingly strange, how every time one reaches a certain phase of development, precisely the right Dhamma appears just fitting with what's happening with you. Tis talk explains precisely what my conscousness is observing throughout the day as the train of thoughts and interlaced emotions progresses. Mr. Goldstein has also obviously reached sati and sampacanya, for one needs this to be able to percieve these immaterial dhammas which Mr. Goldstein explains. Excellent! pure Magga teaching.. this is the path of applied practice.. to observe the processes within the Khandas and see their relationship to Tilakkhana (3 marks of existence). Satu!

Joseph Goldstein is a Bodhisattiva. This talk can be life changing to those who apply it in their lives. This is the most important talk that I have ever heard. It comes from Goldstein’s book “Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Awakening”.

I have only recently discovered Joseph Goldstein and his talks are absolutely fantrastic. I cannot stress how useful and stunningly well explained these talks and particularly this one is. As for Matt Peterrsen, from his comment it is obvious that he is missing a brain cell or two. (I realise this is an unskilful emotion that has made me write this comment,I am aware of how flawed I am!) Unfortunately my sense of disgust is pretty strong right now!

Joseph is surely an amazing spiritual guider! I wonder what his take would be on someone who has OCD…someone who struggles w constant unwanted thoughts/feelings.

as someone with OCD and intrusive thoughts, sensations, images and urges I've found mindfulness to be a superpower. I'm now able to view them as empty transitory phenomena and appearances in consciousness that I don't cling to and use as objects of meditation and investigation. Joseph Goldstein is a hero to me.

@@ZeedSutn Yea I agree. I’ve been in a non-dualistic path for years and years , I guess I’m still getting caught up in life activity and therefore attachment. I’m a performer so it can get overwhelming sometimes. ❤️🙏
