Full note: the last two Last Meals have honestly felt like the most humanizing. Both Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Meghan Trainor have been so "Everyman" and "Everywoman" and raw and real (especially with their choices) that it's so grounding. His personal anecdotes are so relatable -- core memories of cereal and Saturday morning cartoons, Beatles albums, walking everywhere with a miniDV camera, etc. And it gives me hope hearing a voice of optimism for the future of ethical technology; I don't think of myself as a pessimist, but as a realist, it's hard to look at current trends and not predict a lot of disaster. I also appreciate his philosophy on death; I too don't believe in an afterlife, but living on in people's memories is absolutely a form of immortality. Just hearing stories about his brother makes me feel like I've met him. At the end of the day, all we are as people are just a collection of memories, so sharing them re-integrates us back into the great collective.

As someone who has lost a sibling, the eating of his brother's last meal resonated very hard (though my sister's last meal was hospital food 😅, i definitely have a lot of her things - especially clothes). I also think that there is an important idea here... We may not all grieve the same in time/strategies/etc, but the sense and sight of someone else's grief (and process) can open doors we couldn't see ourselves. Aw I wish I could have met his brother! I’m trying to consciously change my social presence too. For me, it’s not letting anxiety and mistrust control all my interactions. I’m not necessarily aiming to be super extroverted, but I want to be able to actually connect with people. Build trust, really share who I am, and be open enough that people want to share who they are with me I spent so long unconsciously socializing in ways that pretty much signaled “I’m not comfortable around you,” which caused a lot people to not be comfortable and open with me. I have been rewriting my own script, looking at myself from different perspectives, challenging my old habits and conceptions. It’s been a lot of hard work that’s ultimately pretty invisible to the day-to-day people around me. But my childhood friend has noticed my efforts ☺️ I’d love to talk to someone who chose to do a similar thing. Sometimes it’s frustrating how many people don’t want to change even though they don’t like something. It is damn hard work at times, I will admit. I’ve definitely done my fair share of complaining and dragging my feet along the way! 😂 (And there’s other things I complain about but haven’t felt motivated to change). But I do love the progresses I’ve made, and I haven’t even reached my end goal yet 😌 I hope I meet people who are on similar missions, cause I’m tired of people who think I’m whack for not just keeping my head down and going through life unsatisfying superficial connections 😂

You take death, a topic so many people shy away from discussing even though it happens to everyone and then confront it head on with these celebrities we idolize giving them the opportunity to be real and humanized. My favorite cereals are frosted shredded wheats with added sugar, I also mix strawberry frosted wheats with strawberry yougurt cheerios and topped with again sugar (until they discontinued those kind of cheerios.) Then other faves are pretty much all special k except plain and cinnoman, life, raisin bran crunch, cap n crunch regular, and cocoa pebbles. Not in order, though.
