This is so darn true. I worked for about 2 months at a booth in front of different businesses every day taking donations for child su*c*de and bullying and I can say without a doubt that the people who gave the most and the most often are those that I connected with about some pop culture thing or complimented the piece of their outfit they were most proud of that day. I got so many "I can't give today, but you're doing great work" and "Here's $20 man, what's the organization called again?" You need the doom and gloom and people do need to be informed because otherwise con men can trick you into giving to them instead of causes that actually need it, but people don't give because you have "the best cause", they give because you make them happy.

im just now casually getting into mythical kitchen and ive noticed this too. specifically how well he adapts to the energy of the person he is on screen with. with gordon ramsey he felt more serious, food focused, professional yet casual. for hank he felt very geeky, silly, intellectual, enjoying the food like a consumer and not a chef. both vastly different but both within the range of his personality, not feeling untruthful. i know nothing about him but i like his energy a lot.

Agreed. Not only does the joy bring out a totally different side of guests than the pain does, but also Josh is so much more human in his interviewing than Sean is. I can see how some people would like the Alex Trebeck-ish way Sean asks questions, but it feels too robotic to me. Crossed with the disorientation the sauces cause people and I’d much rather be over here, feeling like it’s friends sharing a favourite meal.

As someone who's struggled with chronic illness and the constant looming of dying, this was amazing. I agree with Hank. It's terrifying, but curiosity is so important. I've spent so many days doing research into the treatments and medications I take and are available to me. All the procedures they suggest I dive deep into statistics and the effects. It gives you a sense of control in a situation where everything seems so unpredictable. You never know what's going to happen or how something is going to effect your life, but gathering information and making decisions for yourself is so important. Thank you Josh and Hank for this lovely episode. It really inspired me and made me feel like I wasn't alone.

Lost my dad 2023 to health complications, I'm not even 30 yet. After a lifetime of a complicated relationship, we had many meals and deep conversations, and in a lot of ways this particular video of Hank Green talking about what it means to live and die and eat lovingly prepared food feels a lot like what it was like to have my dad in his final year. Amazing video, Hank Green I hope your family gets to keep you for decades. Thanks to the hosts of the show as well, this is very healing content.
