Thanks for the heads up on the power level as I never would have caught that. That's pretty cheap on Jo Jo's part to not point that out specifically in the little manual that comes with it. Better still they should have some adjusted power levels and/or cooking times based on common microwave wattage - I have a 1200W microwave too.

Power level is mentioned in the JJ manual. Their chart is based on 800 watts, with advice to vary that as required, depending on your microwave.

thank you. thanks to this video i discovered im not the only one that has that "waste" on the lid after cooking. was thinking it was the plastic peeling off but now i think it might be the rice steam drying

Thanks for the guide. I was thinking about getting this, but Japanese rice is the main type of rice I eat and there was nothing in the instructions for it. So it's nice to get a guide from someone else to save myself the trial and error.

Anyone have any luck finding the directions online (Ive been looking but am failing). Someone threw ours away so I have no idea how long to cook it 😭

What's the point soaking it for 15 min, when you can just use a normal pot and cook it for 15 min?

When I soak the sushi rice it comes out softer for me, but I agree a normal pot could be used to cook it

Even when stove cooking it in a pot, and after you have rinsed it plenty, one should still soak the uncooked rice for at least 15 minutes to soften it, prior to cooking. The instructions on the sushi rice packet will say that.

when i look at my microwave there's: "microwave input power: 1400 W" and "microwave energy output: 1000 W" -> but which one do i use for the calculation ?

Eustace Bagge That seems to me like it should be the output as most microwaves are 1200 highest - you can try a batch of rice at 70% power
