The Nakai helped to frame up just how "out there" Destiny was. Their wholly alien nature drove the point home and they looked truly creepy doing it.

I usually just call them "blueberry aliens" lol. I think I remember hearing the word "Nakai" mentioned, but never internalized it. (~) 6:29 In a way, SGU was less of a Sci-Fi show and more of a drama with Sci-Fi elements. In Sci-Fi, you use the non-human/-oid characters to tell complex stories about the human condition. In drama, you just have conflict and tensions. MAYBE they would've gotten back to their Sci-Fi roots in the third season? IDK. (I'm in a rewatch atm, but I paused on "Pain" because I can't bring myself to watch more drama lol.) I also think they should've kept Atlantis running alongside Universe to provide continuity, at least for a season or two. They could've had a supply line opened up through Atlantis, or the Atlantis expedition could've found some reference to Destiny that would help the crew unlock Destiny's system. Or they could've found a supply room filled with ZPM's that could've provided enough power to either dial Destiny or travel to Destiny and pick them up in a "few years" (maybe 100+ years?).

Pain is an excellent episode in my mind. I like Greer's arc. I really didn't like him at first, the first time I watched the series. But he became one of my favourites sometime after that episode.

100 years would've been way too long lol, none of them would've been alive still ^^

But yeah it really felt like they were getting past most of the drama and got much more "sci-fi-ish" towards the end and would've probably continued like that for season 3, I'd imagine. And yeah, we all would've loved having SGA run for a few more seasons as well. In fact I'd say Sg1 should've gotten at least 12 seasons, SGA like 8 and SGU 3-5. Having two shows on the air for most of the time, ending with maybe 1-2 seasons of SGU with many more special appearances from SG1/SGA characters, helping them get home and set up stable two-way travel between the Destiny and home

The Na'kai was insanely cool looking and well done. The Ursini was really cool as well. almost polar opposites, cute instead of creepy looking, but still really alien looking. 😄

It would definitely have been cool to see more of the Nakai/"Blueberry Aliens" because they had an Asgard-like quality in the fact they knew more about Destiny than the humans, but at the same time showed up so little they had the mystery of; what are they? Where did they come from? Mentioning the fact the Destiny crew were more "grey" compared to SG-1, I think that's what made Atlantis such a nice mid-point between SG-1 and SGU since the entire alliance with the Wraith and even their experimentation on "Michael" showed a darker side of humanity given that they were cut off from Earth and had to "make due" with their circumstances that no Earth-bound/returning SG team would. It showed more of a nuanced concept of "we're alone, and we have to survive alone."

I thought that by the end, those aliens were allies. Yes, they infected Chloe with some kind of mutagen, but they healed her later.

Guys, it's been over 10 years. The new series is uncertain and may take on a different path developed by another team. What about you publish all the secrets for fun? It's annoying to wait for so long...
