Hi Karine, amazing video on Josephine Baker. Such an icon! I love her too. About her children … if you look at her natal chart she has the planet Uranus in the house of children. Uranus is about weirdness, strangeness, shocking things, new ways of doing things. I do think it’s odd about her children and how she made entertainment out of them (with paid visits to the castle). I’m sure she was trying to pay the bills. Castles are very expensive to upkeep in Europe !! But what I wanted to say is that no matter what she would have done, those children would have always been weird, shocking, or possibly genius. Actually, that’s also Uranus, to be genius, but it’s also an outcast. That they would end up weird was an inescapable fact for her. I also read she miscarried many times (shocking things - Uranus- to the womb -5th house of children). She was amazing. Pretty impossible to be perfect. I would have loved to have met her. Maybe she let go of the gay son for other reasons we can’t fathom. Maybe he was precocious and she couldn’t handle that with the other younger kids. It’s hard to say but at least based on her chart her heart was good. (Nicely placed moon). Thanks for the amazing and unique videos. 😊 Can’t wait for Frida Kahlo ❤️

The fact that even though she lived in an era where being female, bisexual, and especially black had severe societal disadvantages, yet still became one of the most famous and beloved people of her era is nothing short of spectacular. What a woman! ❤

She's more than a performer. Some said, Josephine Baker was the first black in the burlesque's world. She's owned the cheetah once and adopted 12 different kids in her later life. I watched the Josephine Baker's Story in 1993 and it was amazing. Last year, the French government gave her a grand honor by moved to a special burial in Paris. It's about time to give her a honer.

I am a fan of Josephine Baker political and civil rights stand. She left the united States to become what she wanted to become. She believed in freedom of expression, moved to Paris, France because she knew she would be celebrated. She got tried of the systematic racism in the united States. Which I don't blame her. She will always be a inspiration to me for standing up against white united States racist system. She had style and personality and beauty.

You need to educate yourself more about her life. She left the United States because she spoke out against the war; The United States labeled her a Communist and that is why she flee; they blackballed her. Everything wasn't about race; like you want it to be
@sciencedavedunning3415

@oglxxi7337 you need to educate yourself about history. Sidney Buchet and others invited Josaphine to go to Paris with them where all things African were considered new and exotic in light of French colonial expansions there in there early 20s. There was no war at the time. These black entertainers were escaping the 'Jim Crow' laws and pleasantly surprised that they could stay in any hotel, or eat in any Parisian restaurants they wanted, never having to suffer the racism they left back in the states. Sure they got alot of attention, were stared at , in fact. But the curious stares were of fascination and acceptance , rather than unjustifiable rejection. Sidney kind of expected this, but it was an unexpected delight to young Josephine.

I only learned of who she was the day she died and once I had, I was fascinated and hooked!! Given her early childhood, overt racism and career rejection in the U.S., and all things considered, she turned out pretty good. I for one am glad there was some place in this world for a BW to be loved and celebrated, especially given the times. As for her children, I think she made a mistake in adopting so many especially at a time when she was going broke and couldn't afford to raise them, although I know this was not her intent. She is still my favorite ♥

The more I learn about Josephine the more I continue to adore her as an icon, an entertainer, a dynamic black woman, her love of France, her activism for equality for all people. I can't imagine her turning her son away for his lifestyle choices because she was such a free spirit too. However she opened up huge doors for entertainers still today in the 21st century and beyond. Also love that she's from my mother's hometown too. So much respect to this goddess always.

I love Josephine Baker and I couldn't click on fast enough when I saw you did a video about her. I read her biography when I was teenager and I found her completely fascinating. In a lot of way beyond the sexy image she had, she was a good person with a good heart, but she had her faults. I think her intentions with the Rainbow Children was innocent but not very well thought out. She did love children and animals but the way she was raised it almost seems she didn't know how to handle certain things properly. Yes, she shouldn't have paraded the children she adopted like a circus for predators. Also, the thing about her son being gay and she was LGBTQ herself, and she couldn't accept him for his sexuality, made me very sad. She should have accepted her son. Great video on Josephine Baker, she was a true icon.

You learn from an early young age to dissociate their public image from the private you see at home, and its sure not all singing and glitters. The only thing you keep, indeed, is their legacy, their courage especially during WW2 or black segregration for parents... and just wonder now what youre gonna do with it, in this new modern society. I love this woman 🥹 I have the picture of her with just the sheet covering her hanging on my living room wall and a few more of her in my bathroom and kitchen (the one with her cheetah). Us Gemini women do it better! May she rest in heavenly bliss. Edit: she was able to move around in those spaces with those high profile foreigners because she didn't act like an arrogant, ignorant American. They didn't like American WM or WW entertainers because of their attitude. A Gemini, she was adaptable. She learned the French language and catered to the masses when she entertained. She was not what they expected from someone born in America for that time. Even the high class blacks in America had a sense of superiority that was distasteful to foreigners. I would have renounced my citizenship too. Even when she hit rock bottom in France, she was allowed to stay in the castle of a royal. No one would have helped her walk across the street in America.

Josephine Baker is one of my favorites, I’m with you on that! She was born before a lot of the stars we see, growing up in the ‘10s and 20’s, it was a different era for women. Even less independence and women would need a man’s approval to get through life, I think her first two marriages was for security and not in the marriage sense we have now. It was a huge benefit to be a married woman (although a child honestly) but with no father, this was how she managed to get by. As for her rainbow tribe, I think she had good intentions especially when all countries were recovering from WWII. There is a lot I don’t agree with and I think she got herself way in deep with 12 children, but their life’s could’ve been infinitely worse. I’m adopted and so are my two brothers and no matter how well you’re raised you can choose a tragic fate for yourself.

At 15, I was wondering what it would be like to have my first boyfriend, but Josephine Baker was married twice at 15. And she received over a 1,500 marriage proposals in her lifetime.

Charging for strangers to come into one’s personal life is not creepy, it’s ahead of the times. Celebrities charge for interviews…. All the time and it costs a lot of money to raise 12 children. Punishments for children at that time were extremely unethical generation X was probably the last generation to experience most of the punishments chronically.

She was ahead of her time...That's why she was considered so shocking...Today she'd be the norm.

2023, The only thing I disagree w/is the comments regarding her children. Josephine Baker sent her son to live with her rich friend due too, having so many children she lost everything including her castle. Her son said, "she did have an orthodox way of doing certain things," but she loved them all very much. The son that was gay also stated his mother put him among the right people because of how he was and he became very successful. So as a good mother; apparently she knew what she was doing.

She looks so modern, but I think that's because of how little representation there was for women who didn't fit the traditional white look.

And just realized that Josephine somewhat looks similar to Doja Cat. Both are great dancers and performers and creative people.
