I'm not trying to be rude or anything like that, but I believe crab season in Alaska only goes for about 5 or 6 days out of the entire year, so they bust their butts for that week making crazy amounts of money for the rest of the 360 days off they get. If I'm not wrong, I think that's how they can take their crab vessels down to the main states without needing to scurry back up for the crab.

Crab season last as long as it takes to fill their quota king crab can take up to four weeks but between all the different crab seasons they run from October to January so it is allot longer then 5 or 6 days

Since they have a crew on the big boat just sitting there it would have been a good idea to buy a couple cheap boats to bring they don’t need to be anything fancy. Realistically they could have bought a couple boats and sold them when they were done if they didn’t want to do this again or even better just rent a few.

That fish weighs 150 just like the crab pots weigh "1200 pounds" I'm a crabber for a living and crab pots weight about 650 pounds but I've heard some stupid numbers on the show. That fish weighed probably around 85 pounds. Not 150

On one hand your not wrong. On the other hand they do need to be productive fishermen or they lose their fishing contracts. If that happens they cannot fish and Discovery no longer has a show.

The show is so popular that Discovery can afford to subsidize the operation(s). Discovery channel probably owns the crab quota. Nothing would surprise me.
