The only movie I’ve ever cried to as an adult was Only The Brave. It’s John Brolin, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, Jennifer Connelly, Taylor Kitsch, etc. and it tells the story of 19 firefighters from my hometown of Prescott, Arizona who sadly lost their lives trying to put out a wildfire in one of the nearby towns.

I'm 63, lived a life of adventure sport where I was a Backcountry guide and Telemark ski instructor, ranch cowboy and outfitter, among a list of crazy demanding jobs. You name it and I probably did it. I have been in pain 24/7 since 1982. I never quit "playing" back then and I damn well ain't going to quit now. I started rock climbing at age 59. I still tele and backcountry ski. My point being, don't stop moving. I've severe nerve pain, blown out shoulders, my neck is wrecked and a bad back, 5 knee surgeries and I just don't stop moving. It helps that I have a wife 29 years my junior. She keeps me motivated. I'd love to get stem cell treatment, but I'm a poor retired dirtbag. America needs to start treating folk with stem cells. Anyway, thank you guys for this great podcast. Cheers!

The whole beauty of Thrashin' was the low budget and the not so professional level of acting. That movie was made down to the level of all the kids who loved it when it came out. Now were all 50 and laugh at it, but at the time it was the perfect movie for us skate rats, and it's a cult classic movie. If it had a huge budget and was directed by Spielberg, all of us kids would have clowned on it back then as not authentic. I love that movie, and I think Tony Hanks was especially good in it.

Josh is more self-assured, more worldly, more sophisticated, and his humor is slightly more dry, but he is virtually the same guy I've known since he was 13. It has been so satisfying to see a friend not only accomplish his stated goal of becoming a respected working actor, but unarguably become one of the best film actors in the world. His body of work speaks for itself. As for his mother, Jane, she was awesome. Full of stories, opinionated, warm, passionate, compassionate, and funny as hell. As they say in Hollywood, she knew where a lot of the bodies were buried.

How did i not know that this channel exists!? Binge time! To this day i still use Ellis' line from Haggard, "You're-a-deadman!" I'm 37 now, when i was a little kid (7 years old) and getting into skateboarding, my parents rented Thrashin' for me from a local video store. I remember being half way through it, and being like "This...uhh, this sucks..." My brother's friend let me borrow Animal Chin and i was hooked. The OG Bones Brigade are still some of my biggest heroes. I wont lie, when i saw the video where they re-created the Chin ramp, i choked up and someone started cutting onions nearby. I was lucky enough to be able watch that video with my two sons who (they were 6 and 9 at the time) were just getting into skating. We shortly after watched Animal Chin, Ban This, Propaganda and then Gleaming the Cube and finished it off with The End. It was a great evening where i got to share my lifelong love of skateboarding with my sons, who were just as stoked as I was the first time watching those movies.

No free rides for the Brolin boy and as terrible as it may sound all of this life failure stuff is what makes the drive to success all the more real. Josh is a righteous mother fucker. What a rad dude. That was by far the best interview I have seen. I couldnt take my eyes off of it and my face was cracking a smile over the banter the entire time!!!! So sick

I'm glad that he got a truckload of cash for playing Thanos. If anyone in Hollywood deserves it it's this guy

The best thing Brolin ever did? The OG drummer for RKL. But I hear he's a pretty good actor too.

That was a great episode. Just dudes hanging out and keeping it real. Reading that back it sounds ridiculous, but seriously your extraordinary experiences felt relatable and human. (51 year old in california)

Lol! Thrashin" was skate nostalgia! It gave those skaters from different parts of the country to get an idea of what skateboarding was like in California. Thank you!

Thrashin' had the only 80's skate footage I owned, so I used to watch it regularly. One time a friend came over and the love scene was playing; he gave me shit later that day about me watching "some Playboy Channel movie", haha.

Damn....i learned more about Josh Brolin through the stories of his failures than what i thought i knew of his successes. I wish more stars could come to terms with their real selves rather than their hollywood personas. Much respect to Josh and i genuinely wish him the best of luck in his life!
