I live 1.5 miles away from the Palisades fire in the city of SM. What people aren't talking about is the fact that they have already arrested an arson suspect. These fires are only happening in upscale areas miles away from each other, many started on the same day. Yes, the winds were 100 miles an hour, and that accelerated everything but the fool they caught had a blowtorch and was targeting different communities. Another issue is that some of these enclaves don't have extensive emergency services and have to rely on LA County to rescue them whereas where I live the city is its own municipality so they only call in LAC for backup. We are still under curfew as of this evening and anyone out and about will be arrested if they violate it. SM doesn't play. LAC is moving really slowly on this, not to mention we've already run out of water and Canada had to jump in to help. I've been here since the riots and although this has been devastating the optics aren't as bad because it's winter and colder air so it just looks overcast. Many times here when there are fires in LA the sky is bright red with black fire flakes raining down. Stressful, to say the least.
