Fwiw, PSU had the lead LATE GAME in 2017, 2018, 2022, and lost the lead. In the last 8 matchups, only 3 times did the 4Q start with >4 point lead, and 2 of those 3 times, the leading team lost. This year both teams have a “slow start” problem. OSU is ranked highly in early game performance, but PSU ranked highly in late game performance (even with Q4 allowing non starters to regularly come in) I think PSU’s demonstrated ability to FINISH football games this year will factor greatly. Provided OSU doesn’t take an insane lead early.

I've been banging the drum that this PSU team is incredibly reminiscent of Michigan's 2022 team, and what you just said fits that year's Michigan/OSU game perfectly. OSU landed haymakers in the 1st half, but Michigan kept it close. They come outta the locker rooms at halftime and the Wolverines take over. Michigan was a run-first, explosive offense with a stout defense that was savant-like in the second-half of games. In fact, seven games into this season, Penn State outscores opponents 130-31 in the 2nd half. Michigan in 2022? 140-48. Both teams with a ton of upperclassmen who have all played together for years, both teams able to close games out.

Is this talent extinguishable without equal talent blocking them? For example, will OSU’s OL cracks prove fatal as they did against Nebraska? Or was that an overlook and are we back to dominant OSU talent run games come Saturday.

Nebraska was a weird game where they were trying to figure out the run game with a brand new Offensive line, the only 2 times they threw the ball down the field it was a TD both times if Ohio state wanted to throw all over this team they would have but they decided they needed to figure out the run vs a shitty team instead of figuring it out later

It actually takes quite a bit of skill and leadership to come from behind and dominate conference opponents in their own stadiums, especially when your QB1, DE1, and RT1 all get hurt in the second game and you still win by more than 2 touchdowns. Let me know what other team does that against a 5-2 conference opponent.

It’s not complicated. Ohio State has better talent and more resources than Penn State. They will have more NIL every year as well. Franklin has done a decent job with fewer resources. There’s no mystery here guys. I think Penn State has a chance to win in some years, and may win this year, but Ohio State is still the more talented team. This is from a Penn State fan.

James Franklin has already said during a press conference that Allar and Dani Dennis-Sutton (star DE) will be game-time decisions, which most people realize is purely a strategic move to force Ryan Day into a situation where he has to spend time planning for both.. James Franklin is trying to play chess, but we’ll see how well it works. He has a tendency to get in his own way.

The games narrative is entirely around recency bias and perception not reality. Penn State struggled with Boston College and Wisconsin. They’re looking really good. Ohio State struggles as always after a bye week and lost a 1 point game to the now number one team in the country because the clock expired. Penn State was not a force offensive against really anyone Kent State and USC and USC they almost lost. I think Ohio State COULD lose. Absolutely but it also makes sense that they’re currently favored.

As a Bowling Green student and fan, Penn State played so much better in the 2nd half, but they struggled in the first half and a bit in the 2nd. Wisconsin has one of the better defensive teams in the country. Shouldn’t have been that close, but I saw it as a trap game. Penn State has more momentum than Ohio State, and if Penn State wants to win, they need to win the line of scrimmage against the Buckeye offensive line.
