I’m 63 and I’ve never regretted my decision to be childfree. Dodged a lifetime of drama/trauma.

I'm 39 years old. I had to get a partial hysterectomy due to uterine fibroids when I was 37. I have never regretted my decision for having a partial hysterectomy. I couldn't find any man that was suitable for me. (Not that I was looking for a perfect man, there's no such thing as a perfect person) I didn't want to take any meds to shrink the fibroids away & I didn't want to keep having surgeries to shrink the fibroids. My fibroids were massive. I look at my situation this way. If it was God's will for me to get married & have children then so be it, if not so be it as well. Now there's nothing wrong with getting married & having children, that's up to the person, but it must have been God's will for me not to have children with my situation.

It's the most life affirming experience ever. You've missed out hugely. Just because it's hard doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. In fact, most things that are difficult are rewarding in equal measure.

@@02cahillt Oh goddammit. I didn’t know I missed out on passing on the Alzheimer’s that destroyed my grandma and my mom. I could have had kids that could have married your kids and then we’d both know all our grandkids would die of it too. Dammit!

@@tonyarichards5430wait, so because of Alzheimer's you think it would have been better that they never existed at all? Life is beautiful, no matter how bad Alzheimer's is or any other disease for that matter.

There’s never a series of accomplishments that I could ever achieve that would come anywhere close to the greatness of becoming a parent. The drama as you refer to is just a tiny part of an incredible journey that brings a smile to your face daily.

Are Josh Pugh and James Acaster related? They look like brothers minus the hairdo.
