I think Barney and Robin's divorce was a bigger betrayal to the fans. Tracy's death was a big bummer, but it still would have fit with the flow of the story. Shit happens in life. But Barney and Robin had seasons...SEASONS...worth of build-up only for all of it to be tossed down the drain.

@@elixir662 i just finished the series literally two hours ago and im stuck here in yt searching himym vids. i actually feel betrayed when they said they got divorced. i was like wtf, why? they had chemistry and since s1 robin said she want no commitment, barney would really fit her. they are so much alike and i love the idea of two lone wolves together. they're like a power couple for me. plus ted has let go of his feelings for robin like his balloon when he was little. that feeling shouldn't have come back just like that balloon would never come back. even if ted and robin got together in their later years, i think robin would've just choose her career again (or idk). i ship robin and barney so much ghad.

People don't seem to realise that shit happens in life. Not everything will turn out sunshine and rainbows and you should learn to deal with that. The show has taught us that time and time again yet I still see people say, "Boohoo... we spent so long building up these characters and developing for nothing." But that's where I say you're wrong. They spent that time understanding how to love and what they love. HIMYM has the most realistic ending ever. Things happen and people die or people fall apart. Pretending that didn't happen or trying to change it with a petition is denial (a stage of grief) that has lasted years. Do you think in real life there aren't people who spent years together and building chemistry and trust yet get a divorce? Do you think people's wives stay alive because they're meant to be together? Stop treating this like a show and treat it like a story. Give it some respect.
