@@TedLehmann Im a sailor in the US navy and a Christian and i showed this to my father and my dad was shocked the bird came down. He said "Thats a sign from God" i think that bird was a spirit. It even sang along. A Bald Eagle came down once when i was singing a song to myself while sweeping the flight deck.

Josh Williams' Dad Tony wrote this in response to those of you who've asked about what happened to the bird. ""Josh handed it to a young lady that was a Doctor of Vetinary medicine, she later emailed that she still had the little cardinal that flew down and sang Mordecai with Josh!" Oh, note that the bird was a cardinal. I don't know if it was consecrated or not.

I doubt very much that you'll find an "official" recording of this event. I shot it at the Doyle Lawson festival, held at Denton Farms Park in Denton, NC in 2011. As far as I know, my video is the only only one to catch the bird falling from the ratters onto Josh's guitar. It remains the most played song on my KZbin channel. Thanks for your comment, and please take a look at some of the more than 1500 video songs you can find there. Thanks for your comment. - Ted

Reminds me of when a baby hummingbird tried landed on our pool cover years ago. I rescued it, put it in an animal carrier and fed it for days with syrup dripping off my finger. It would then walk around my shirt and sit on my shoulder. A few days later its mother showed up and I held the baby in my outstretched hand while the mother hovered in the air just beyond my fingers and fed it. Finally got strong enough to fly away. All quite amazing...as was the video. Great stuff!

This reminds me of the day a beautiful white duck waddled up to me as I sat reading my book in the park. It laid down at my feet and took its afternoon nap. People walking by called me the duck whisperer. Truth is, I had been praying for a closer relationship with Jesus! It was a very specific prayer. I am convinced that my experience was an answer to my prayer! When something like this happens, I see God's love for all living creatures in the experience! Thanks Ted, for sharing this! Thanks Josh for your reaction. God chose you for this interaction! Saw you last night at the Sheldon in St. Louis. World class musicianship. Best wishes to you!

+Linda Laferriere What a lovely story and connection, Linda. A couple of years ago, I received a note from an Episcopalian Priest in Toronto asking my permission (as if he needed it) to use this video at a pastoral meeting he was conducting. He saw Josh's reaction, "I don't know what to do...." as the essential dilemma of the human condition. I never heard how the meeting progressed, but I was greatly honored to have the video honored in such a way. It has long legs and is important to lots of people in lots of ways. Thanks!

+Ted Lehmann Josh said he didn't know what to do but he trusted the tender place in his heart, as did I that day. There were actually a total of 3 creatures in my story, the duck being the final visitor. God surely knew He would get my attention and reach my heart this way, through these 3 visitors. The first creature was a bat who had fallen from its perch. This bat was frightened and scurried up the tree trunk next to me. Its fear was understandable since bats aren't equipped to be safely out and about during the daytime. I later came to relate to the bat as a representation of me, trusting in myself more than in God, and therefore living with tension and fear. The second creature was a dragonfly that had dropped down onto the page of my book, from somewhere up above. Soon, it became clear to me that this dragonfly was dying. Its wings were twitching sporadically. We spent those last minutes of its life together and when the dragonfly had passed, I laid it to rest on the ground by my chair. I later came to relate to the dragonfly as a representation of Jesus, my savior, in this life and for always. The third creature was the duck that I had described earlier. This duck had no fear of me and was so at peace that it laid down at my feet for the duration of its afternoon nap. I later came to relate to the duck as a representation of the peace and serenity that is mine when I place all my trust in God. True story...The best day of my life!

The bird came into the church and just sat on the little boy as he spoke of his mom I told my son as he was dying at home and often told him give mom a sign sign if he could. I wonder if the guy lost a friend or mom loved one because this is a' miracle' of Father God enormous love. Made me smile to see so much love I cried.

So wonderful! I'm so glad he didn't panic and frighten the bird away. This reminds me of a time I was sitting in my backyard with my feet propped up on the fence, just looking into the woods. As I sat there, a titmouse flew in and landed on the toe of my shoe! It sat there for a minute or two and stared at me, tipping its head to one side occasionally. I was all alone and naturally had no camera, but it was a great experience that left me grinning for days.
