It was interesting but a VC guy calling other jobs BS jobs is a bit rich!

Yeah - I'm an engineer and I agree with a lot of what he says about things like maintenance. Plus I think he's spot on with the hype surrounding certain industries and what they can deliver, *BUT ITS BEEN HIS INDUSTRY* that has F*CKED UP so many other industries with their VULTURE Capitalism. Yeah I don't believe the V in VC stands for venture but vulture. The reason why I watch people like Prof G. is so I have the means to argue AGAINST a lot of what the economics clowns say. I see Prof G railing all the time about the crisis of men and other points BUT he rarely accepts that its *HIS KIND WHO ARE THE PROBLEM.* Occasionally he does and he's also nowhere even close to being as bad as many, but he's still part of the overall problem.

@@tonywilson4713 Funny that you mention this because I discovered Professor G from this Ted Talk where he literally calls out Boomers for how society is now. Not sure if you already saw this but it just released yesterday. I can thank my KZbin algorithm for showing me this. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3atZZuhpbaKbqc

I do apartment maintenance. Apartment buildings are blindingly expensive to maintain. Everyone thinks it's a leaky pipe now again but they start fall apart as soon as finished and add residents. BRUTAL!

Funny thing -- I was watching a stream where people were talking about home robots and how useful they might be, and my mind went not to dumb little tasks like mowing, vacuuming and dishes, but rather the kinds of things that are expensive, hazardous or beyond my skill level, like plumbing and fixing a roof. I would want a robot that could do those sorts of things.

Haha, I did electrical maintenance and trouble shooting for years, then went into semiconductor industry maintaining scanning microscopes, then back to electrical work as a solar technician. I did this because you can't outsource those jobs, so no unexpected breaks in income. You won't get rich doing it but it's a good solid living. The US needs tech schools in a huge way, 2-3 year degrees, and get kids earning decent money right out of the gate. And it's great to see skilled tradesmen in demand again.

Capitalists: Give me something expensive, that I can have a monopoly over and that the government will pay me to build and maintain forever. (Nuclear) No I won't cover any accidents that happen. Politicians: We can have centralized power and grift? Yes! Alternative: Distributed, cost effective, resilient, (can be) community funded, clean, will lead to novel use cases and network effects possibly like the internet. Capitalists & Government: No. That's a dangerous idea.

So what part of Tesla Model 3, S, X, Y, cybertruck, semi, home and grid energy, SpaceX (and all that came before) is not truth? Elon is f-ing annoying but comparing him to Trump and Truth Social is so emotional and ridiculous, it borders on unhinged. I remember when the US cheered its innovators and took pride in Made in USA.

8:27 People look down on nurses? Thought general consensus was an honorable career path
@xaviervel4 ай бұрын
I think he means that in general blue-collar professions tend to be looked down upon, but I agree that nursing is still well-respected but in desperate need of more people, so in that way, it is similar to the other blue-collar jobs that tend to be looked down upon.
