It’s a pretty big generalization by Galloway to suggest that men who spend their Sundays watching televised sports, have a future of failed relationships and anger in their lives. I have many friends who are avid sports fans and also have great marriages. And I know some avid runners and workout warriors, who have had more than their share of failed relationships.

I wrote an urban crime fiction 10 years ago which was a metaphor for the "trapped" of being disabled, from the perspective of crippling poverty, written by a Canadian who has otherwise experienced both, despite the good fortune of race, gender, and nationality behind its "sails" (Ba-doom-psssh).

@11:40 He's describing my Dad!!! He's 83 years old. I think he liked Nixon, maybe also Reagan, I don't know. Has never been political at any time in his life. But something shifted for him-- maybe around the time of Obama, but definitely in 2016. He didn't like Clinton, but was a Never Trumper from the get-go. He told me he voted for Clinton (I still am not sure if he was placating me). He voted for Kamala-- in fact, he liked her! My dad has turned into a democrat because of Trump and will never, ever go back to the GOP as long as continues to be the cult that it is.

Is Galloway entertaining? Absolutely!....to answer the question. But that Neil Postman description of contemporary media does little to define this ''performance''. Prof G's stupid ''man-jokes''' transition to an authenticity, a vulnerability and a truth that Ed thoughtfully adds nuance or even an opposing view. The prose-and-play of the the old and young, papa and son, give perspective and lead the listener to a better understanding of how markets, the economy and the world work. Galloway radiates with experience and expertise; Ed shines thoughtfully with analysis. The two bring a a dialectic through humour, humanity and wisdom that helps us decipher the stock market shit show. Thanks guys

I could be wrong, but the notion that Trump will issue and enforce global tariffs, institute and execute mass deportations, prosecute all his political enemies, oversee the handover of Ukraine to Russia, enforce a national abortion ban, shepard through $2 trillion in budget cuts, overturn Obamacare and, and, and, and... makes me think that people have never seen an actual government operate before. If he's able to do half of that, that would make his administration the most productive presidency in modern US history. Does anyone really think that a Trump presidency is going to be that efficient, effective and productive? I think people are overcorrecting from the first term. Last time, he was SLIGHTLY more effective than people thought, so now they imagine he's some sort of all-powerful demigod who will be able to snap his fingers and create mass immigration detention centers from thin air. The left would do well to stop running around with its hair on fire, catastrophizing every last little word that comes out of his mouth and instead focus on where the weakest links in the chain actually are. For my money, it's not immigration, not tariffs, not Ukraine. For my money, we should be watching Kash Patel and the FBI like a hawk.

Dr. Galloway, if you want to branch out of your political bubble, don't just focus on "conservative" voices.. you could use some input from more left wing voices. For simplicity sake, Medi Hassan would be a place to start. These are the voices that have traditionally and structurally never had any real power, if you look at it from the perspective of an ongoing class struggle involving capital vs labor... and of course that's the real struggle that perpetuates through history and various political systems. The current main stream "left" that exists in a country which sports the largest wealth disparity in recorded history might just be more to the right of center than you're willing to accept. As a wealthy man that's profited from this system, you're naturally going to lean into a very, very moderate view of any critique of that system, and it's going to be easy to fall into the concept that it's your own ability that led to that success when you look around the current media scape which is full of examples of idiocy and incompetence from the proletariat. That's not the story of our times, it's the story you're being presented by capital to justify the power dynamic. So look around, not to the right because you think you're on the left.. look to the left where there are very few elected officials, no billionaire oligarchs (zero), and has never had a president or king to champion their cause.

I agree with Tim 100%. But I do think It’s fake culture wars masquerading as the gas prices and the cost of eggs being manipulated by a bunch of oligarchs who are bent on restructuring our democracy. And that’s the democrats fatal flaw. We treated the election as if it was a contest of ideas when in reality the oligarchs got lucky that the democrats ran a black women and Americas unfortunate racist default setting broke in favor of the oligarchs.

I think you guys couldn’t be more wrong here. The only thing that is going to defeat rightwing populism is progressive populism. The Dems need to go after billionaires and stat saying words like “oligarchy” and “classism”. The Right always has a villain. We need to take a page from their playbook. This is how we win back the working class. If you want a perfect example of where America is right now, look at the lack of sympathy around the murder of Brian Thompson.

I respect you all --- but you got this wrong. Was Kamala perfect? No, but flawed...no way! She ran an exceptional campaign that spoke to retaking patriotism for the democrats, focused on economic issues, and embraced American values that resonated with the majority of Americans. Why did she lose? The shift in how people get their information. Most people never heard from her. Social media algorithms made it so people ended up being spoon fed messages that reinforced their biases, made them afraid and angry. Kamala was the hope and progress candidate not the fear and loathing candidate. Not to mention manipulation such as what Elon was doing with Twitter to spread lies, disinformation and prop up Trump. The Democrats takeaways have to be how to penetrate and break through on these algorithms to get their message to a diverse audience.

How to avoid slipping into the manosphere.. Be curious before cynical by considering & searching for context, understand speculation isn't fact, be aware that ani trust in institutions is a deliberate strategy to manipulate vulnerabilities in people.. Scott there is alot in what I've just said that you could add to your thesis on not just young men but society as a whole. The grievance & outrage that comes from the manosphere is what won Trump the election, not because he had a solution to their every day problems, but because he validated their anger..
